They'll realistically have 10 years to fail, that's how long they have funded and how long it will take for people to get used to the idea of papuans playing the sport at the highest level, good on them, not sure why everyone assumes any club will "fail"
Not with grants being so high, and the fact we have clubs like Tigers, Titans lingering at the sour end of the ladder most years, and AFL doing the same with Suns and GWS (if they didn't manage them to be relevant) PNG won't fail, not in any metrics that would result in losing a licence, and not to a cashed up new bidder, it would be far easier to just hand out more licenses than to accept defeat, licences don't really cost the arlc anything but a slice of the broadcast pie
Isn’t the idea for funding by the Australian government to be replaced by corporate money from the mining and gas&oil sectors?

If Christchurch come in, that's 26 million in wages for New Zealand players in their home country. That's just first grade as well, the lower grades are a free for all. How can union fight this? You can't just pay the All Blacks. You need to pay the youngsters.
Throw in the brining back of the old Toyota cup U20’s competition and RL would crush it at youth level both on the north island and South Island.

Except not all that money goes to NZers, a chunk of it goes to journeyman Aussies. Players like Lussick suck up some of that money.

As for paying younger players, as I've said before the peak for this in regards to young NZers was in the U20 days, even that competition wasn't enough to topple the pipeline in NZ rugby.

Do these players primarily play on a 7’s circuit or do they also play in the NPC cup?
Primarily the 7s circuit but some will play parts of the NPC if they're available.

TBH 7s is such a specialised game these days and realistically no long term 7s players seem to make a dent in 15s anymore.

Except it's not. The Warriors have put in place 5 new feeder teams this season making it biggest pathways system to have ever existed.

Where’s that muppet that said nz juniors were collapsing

Christchurch will emulate these same pathways together with Aussie scouts getting talent

That figure of 23 percent of nrl players coming from nz will surely rise

Haven’t the bulldogs teamed up with the Canterbury NZRL to create pathways programs?

Should Australia takeover the NZRL?
I was disappointed the NZRL and ARL didnt join forces in 2012 to have an ANZ joint commission. It was short sighted. NZRL has for years operated on a pittance. Last financial year they only had $12.1mill revenue.
They have lost $2.8mill over the last 2 years.
