Yeah but of a Hail Mary with Moffatt but as you said it seemingly greased the wheels for Perth so I guess it was worth a shot from his pov.
Can’t see it winning over too many locals as ‘foundation club’ that gets bandied around in Sydney doesn’t hold the same weight outside of Sydney and next to none in NZ- still I guess on the off chance it works local would probably be fine with a hand me down club if the alternative was no team at all and something needs to change in tigertown as it’s not currently working as it is.
Think Perths been a market the NRL has been wanting to get into- it’s the next biggest market where there’s little presence so it at least makes sense to explore just think Norths association negated a lot of the risk.
Adopting Balmain would be to curry favour with Pvl

Obviously Moffat thinks it worked for Perth so why not him

Orcas seem to be strong favourites can’t see this changing it

I would have NZ 2 in Auckland (I think - could have mind changed by persuasive argument - but would then flip back again prob).
Create a proper derby. Increase prospects of rectang stadia bigness.
Auckland is 3 times the population of the rest of NZ combined. No. 4 X.

don’t think Balmain nz2 has any merit.

no chance nrl or arlc allow the wests tigers to demerge and imagine if they said ok you can demerge but wests tigers ip belongs to us and then nrl just control the team outright and put in their own board. considering they have stepped in to salvage titans and knights they might have emergency powers to over rule any single clubs board should they believe that club or that clubs board board are impacting the game negatively

I think the Maitland Pickers need / deserve a rectang stadium.

But I’ll suggest this in the Hunter Valley expansion thread.

This and this alone should be the home ground and HQ of NZ2 and certainly not split between Leichhardt oval or any other Australian based ground.

only other stadiums associated with NZ2 should be Forsyth barr stadium(Dunedin), trafalgar park(Nelson) and maybe even rugby park(invercargill).

Who is going to switch to supporting the new team in Auckland?

There's no point having a derby if there is no proper rivalry.

I think Gus said he thought another Auckland team due to population and businesses was the way to go.

south island make more sense and from what locals who post here say, it’s definitely way to go

Id normally agree but in the case of Perth/WA if it’s a case of Perth/WA bears or nothing at all then I’d reluctantly choose Perth/WA bears.

a similar type scenario in New Zealand would just be pushing it too far .
I don't see the difference. Why would it be Perth Bears or nothing?
