Quality of Junior comps don’t seem to be an impediment for the Storm ..

They’re essentially a Queensland team re:juniors also much easier to recruit to Melbourne than internationally to NZ.
They should really be doing more to try and get the local players coming through but face a similar issue as the Warriors as not being able to shoulder that responsibility on the club vs the governing body.
Storm are a good example of hitting the ground running and the culture is the model NZ2 need to try and emulate.

Blues won the first 2 comps and were beaten finalists in the 3rd with another in the early 2000s.
They were essentially about 75% of the ABs in the first couple of seasons and suffered a bit once those players retired (same as the Allblacks worst season in recent memory in 98)
Ironically Crusaders got the spoon first season and also missed the finals in the second before essentially flipping the script with the Blues situation (75% ABs many generational players)

Yeah unfortunately he was built up a bit on a couple of highlight reel plays that many thought he was the next big thing. Never really kicked on and has been average bar a few form runs. His sabbatical from the game kinda speaks volumes on his lack of mental toughness to make it unfortunately

Yes in many cases it is easier, Warriors in the early seasons were an aspiration for NZ2 kids to play for- negative results changed that sadly.
Outside of Auckland NZers moving to Aus isn’t much more of a stretch than moving to Auckland- Auckland isn’t seen as ‘Home’

That was the perfect mix (2001-2004). Club went broke nullifying contracts so the essentially had to scramble for locals/super league/journeymen to just make a squad and a bit of a perfect storm with Anderson letting them play a style that suited the. House of cards came crumbling down.
Long gone are the days where players could come straight from local clubs, NZRL let the game wither on the vine since those days

CNK needs to Move to centre for RTS at fullback, Taine stays on wing but shit I’m worried about Kosi or Harper being the other Wing- Maybe push Pompey out as a stop gap?
Can only carry one of Capewell/Ford/Niukore on the field at a time, put one of the young guys on and rotate them so there’s a young guy with a more experienced head. Use Niukore as a shorter stint impact player.
Clark better starting and on when the front rowers are a bit lighter, Walker coming on when we need to change the tempo/add a bit of spark

Taine is a perfect 14, Walker is the starting 13, Kosi on the wing.
That's how I see it but I wouldn't be totally against your changes.

I don't really understand the game plan today either..
I had high hopes for them this year based on their roster, I think it's solid but if you're going to pick people out of position and do one out carries..

None are from Auckland, JFH would be the closest to an ‘Auckland’ Junior being a northlander but went to Aus as a teenager.

Marshall (Whakatane) got a high school scholarship as did Hughes(Wellington) - believe in Marshall’s case the whole family got a package deal but similar to what I said earlier that relocating to Queensland isn’t much more of a stretch than moving to Auckland- Particularly in Hughes case.
I would much rather these guys playing for the nz club, or NZ2/3 but when people say ‘Warriors missed them’ EVERY club has scouts and agents in NZ competing for the same talent, sadly other clubs offer more it seems.

I thought he was spotted by the Tigers playing touch footy … and given a scholarship to Keebra Park …obviously he must have been very good … perhaps you could make an excuse for the Warriors missing him if that was the case
