You blokes forgotten how bad his attitude to training is??? Not aware of the BS he carried on with at the Titans? Took most of last season to get fit. Still has the US rape case hanging over his head.

There is absolutely zero reason to give a seconds thought to the bloke.

I was hoping the club had moved past the absolute desperation stage of the rebuild.

Isn't everyone available on the cards for us? I wasn't aware of his US rape case... Wouldn't want someone with such bad press ruining what we're building.

However, back in his hay day he was my favorite non Knights player. I still think he has some petrol left in the tank to give us two real good solid seasons.

1. Watson
2. Lee
3. Ramien
4. Jennings
5. Hayne

6. Ponga
7. Pearce

8. Klemmer
9. Buhrer
10. Saifiti
11. Fitzgibbon
12. Guerra
13. Ese'ese

14. Woolford
15. Glasby
16. Barnett
17. Mata'utai

Is that our strongest side?

I can't see any reason why any club would want him now. Parra are happy to let him go.

6 yrs ago - maybe.

While I don't disagree with you entirely, I think you're exaggerating how long it's been since he was valuable. Hayne only left for the NFL at the end of 2014. His form during that season would have been worth a serious amount of cap space.

Each to their own.

Some brilliance now and then does not cut it nor do I believe it justified a serious amount of cap space or the rubbish that goes on with him imo.

It's a hell of a long time since he put that run of games together to carry Parra into the GF in 2009. A hell of a long time since that form.

Tend to side with this line of thinking. It's been a long time since he put it together week in, week out.

At his current rate of consistency you end up paying 80-100k per good game.

So the word doing the rounds today is that James Gavet has signed with us. He put a video on social media showing he was leaving the Warriors and already a few reports that he’ll be at Newcastle.

Toohey called it a couple of weeks ago. I think he’d be a decent signing, he’s not going to churn out big numbers like DSaf or Klemmer (if we get him) but he’d be good for some impact off the bench, runs like a maniac and can put a hit on as well. Also a signing like this would potentially push JSaf back into nsw Cup where he needs be at the moment to develop a bit more, also this would keep King further away from first grade which is even better.

On the topic of Hayne, what people seem to forget is that since his debut in 2006 at club level he’s had two outstanding seasons and a bunch of really mediocre ones. That’s not to say he hasn’t played some great games during some of those years but his form is patchy at best. The guy had the skill and talent to be an immortal but his work ethic and attention to detail on and off the field has let him down.

Now he’s on the wrong side of 30 and doesn’t possess the same athleticism he once did and is expecting another big pay day because he’s Jarryd Hayne. Personally I’d much rather pay a guy like Jennings $400k-$500k because at least we know we’re going to get a solid performance each week rather than pay Hayne $700k-$800k and get a good performance once a month.

Also Hayne comes with a lot of ego and baggage not to mention a media circus and I don’t like the idea of bringing a cancerous influence into the club when Brown has done such a good job of bringing players in who are great role models to build the club around.

Still reading, Tele, that Jennings might be Newcastle bound but I thought Ross not leaving ruled that out. So if Ross staying and Jennings still at Parra then Hayne in limbo but not my pick

I get so tired of people banging on about the 09 Hayne. He was simply brilliant in 2014 however people choose to ignore this as it doesn't suit their narrative..

You can have your agenda.... 2 great seasons of form in a career.

Numerous seasons on massive money for not so great form.

The rubbish he pulled at the Titans on the training paddock whilst on ridiculous money was something he was allowed to get away with for years at Parra. Titans suffered for it and then the prodigal son returns to Parra and plays a few decent games at season's end and they come away with the spoon.

The writing was on the wall when he showed up for preseason last year. It's little wonder he was not a priority signing for them.

I doubt we've even considered Hayne for a minute, and rightfully so. There's just no value for money there, and we don't need the circus.

Brown ruled it out previously.
Brown said for the amount of money Hayne would want, you need a leader - and Hayne isn't one.
