How good is this guy? I have heard some good things about him. Is he related to Tony Tuimavave? If he is half as tough as Tony we have signed a hard nosed prop.

Don't know much about this one.

He has seemed solid at best when i've watched, but I havnt payed much attention at all.

But a front row signing is good news :)

So let me get this right. We sign Timmy as a 17/18 year old, put years and years into slowly cooking him into a first grade footballer, and then sell him off and sign a 25 year old who's never done anything of note for the Warriors.

That will do me.

Nothing of note...besides that miniscule world cup thing and being a nuffy international...

Timmy will never be a great 1st grade prop in this day and age, he simply doesn't have the physical attributes no matter how tough he may be.
Timmy has 2 1st grade games under his belt, Evarn has 109 and at 25 is still quite young for a prop, he's also a NZ rep

He has size, he has speed he has go forward, will be great to take Wick's place on the bench next year. Heck even him and Cross starting together would be a great front row.......

Super excited at last a quality rep prop!

I was a big fan of this guy when he came through, but he hasn't really kicked on as well as I'd have liked. Hopefully Stone and the boys can turn him into another Taia.

we've pretty much got 3 new front rowers for next year when you think about it, Tuimavave, Cross and Tolar, we can only get stronger next year especially since we don't really rely much on our older guys

whilst i agree that losing Natusch seems like a waste its looking like possibly a wise decision now that we have recruited a competent replacement.

its certainly not ideal to put all the time and effort into a junior only to see them fail to realise their potential and lose them once they hit FG, but there is also much to be said for realising when its time to cut your losses and cutting them quickly without losing anymore time and resources.

im happy with the Tuimavave signing and at 25 he is hopefully just about to really hit his straps as a front rower.

The fact of the matter is, this signing was meant to be Leeson Ah Mau - who is 20.

Ah Mau decided to go to the Cowboys.

So we are stuck with an older alternative with nowhere near as much potential long term.

Its like we've won the consolation prize.

a 25 yr old prop isnt old

factors such as the value of their contract and the type of role a club is looking to fill are also very important when examining who got the better deal

Didn't say he was old. But I recognise he won't have anywhere near the upside of a 20 year equivalent either.

This signing was practically a fall back option after Ah Mau decided he didn't want to come to Newcastle.

at 25 yrs old, a prop is usually just starting to hit his straps and for what the Knights need, i see this as a superior alternative to a young prop just starting to play FG

great. and given we cannot force a player to come here, you'll no doubt agree that having a fall back is a smart move by the knights?

Ah Mau wants to go to the cowboys and win a wooden spoon good on him, atleast he can win a spoon with his brother now, whilst Tuimavave will be playing for the kiwis next year and playing finals footy
