Maybe Foxtell are selling now because they know they'll miss or can't afford the next NRL rights ?

It's no secret 9/Stan will be throwing the kitchen sink to win, Fox might be aware they can't afford to overpay for both AFL and NRL ?

I don't think Stan can afford it all either.

Probably see Super Sat on one and Sunday footy on another platform

call it like I see it. Maybe you think news ltd are not right wing arseholes with the morals of an alley cat? Have you ever seen sky/fox news?

Maybe I make my own mind about things mate without input from sad buggers like you. Maybe.

not looking good for the super rugby tv rights
That article was almost unreadable and didn’t say anything that was not already known about the $100 million being paid to RA. What is amusing is some of the Union supporters somehow thinking there is going to be any money left once they finish paying back their loans and the bloke who played 3 minutes of Origin.

It’s actually a negative article in that their costs have gone up close to 30 million pa and that nobody was interested in the super rugby tv deal without the World Cup and internationals

Whatever crowd figure transpires for Canterbury/Manly, it's bound to be lower than would have been the case in a more propitious timeslot. NRL agree to 6pm Friday games knowing it automatically precludes some fans, however much they might wish to attend. These fixtures are scheduled exclusively for TV, supporters at the ground are an incidental bonus.

Safe to say, AFL would never accept such terms. NRL attendance culture is now substantially stronger than previously. Fox should have to pay the topmost of top dollar if they want to retain this crowd-killer timeslot in the next broadcast deal.

Nrl got stuck with Friday 6 pm because David smith totally ticked off foxsports and after nobody else bid for the rights they had to sack him and go back begging to get a deal

it was In lieu of Monday night football

Friday 6 pm is very valuable for Fox as it’s canibalised channel nines audience

The problem is not so much the Friday 6pm slot, its that tv continues to control scheduling so the wrong games are placed in it. There are some clubs that draw ok in that slot and one (NZ) that are tailor made for it.

Channel nine wanted panthers v souths as it viewed it as a better rating game

foxsports will be pumped getting one of the matches of the round before a huge crowd

The 6pm Friday game and TV controlling game-scheduling are the same problem.

Work patterns may have changed, but every club bar Warriors will still draw lower at 6pm than 8pm.
