Disney plus went up more of a %

was $11.99 now is $13.99

With an ad Supported version too.

Disney have far more capital than Fox Sports too

When Disney+ first launched in Australia in 2020, its price was $8.99 per month. This increased in 2021 to $11.99 per month, and then saw of 8 December 2022 it increased again to $13.99 per month (source: https://www.reviews.org/au/news/disney-plus-price-increase-australia/)

The same article has a table listing the prices (at time the article was published) of all streaming services then available in Australia.

Perhaps it helps to keep abreast of what is happening since re financials.
Judging by what is around the corner ,by many pundits a world wide recession. The NRL have a commitment in place. Free to air TV is going down the tube ratings wise here and in the States. Sweating on the she'll be right approach and not have security in place , when you have players financials including women's rls leaving yourself open to being screwed big time.
Keep crapping on about "his mates" .Translation The biggest finances originate from Fox whether you or me like it or not. That is the reality.
Akin to a vendor desperately trying to sell a house and holding off selling expecting a better price in a fast falling market.Good luck.
You used the description "possible" competitive is hardly reassuring. Particularly as 10 not prepared to spend the loot, ch7 still an AFL boot licker and would only cherry picked 9 hardly overly flush..
You might have a Point if 12 months later we didnt then see afl recoup all their losses in 23&24 and a year later blow the record tv deal out of the water from 25 With three media giants bidding against each other.
Waiting until 2022 when covid threat was dissipating would have been the smart move, not renegotiating a deal at a time when we didn’t even know how seasons were going to be played. even extended 2 years like afl for a lot more then going to market would have been a better outcome. What happened to Vlandys and abdos trip to usa where they were supposed to be courting potential bidders?
smith got sacked for negotiating with nine before fox, Vlandys did exactly same thing signing a sht deal with fox and leaving fta out. By time we did deal with fta there was no other interest, hence why ch9 have paid sweet fa extra for 5 more years.

The game needs to be easily assessable, Foxtel provides that atm and very likely will be the only option still in 5 years
4 games on ch9 and rest on stan probably gives bigger audience than current set up. Stan currently has around 2.5mill subscribers. You’d have to think nrl would drive another 1/2 million plus to them?

Written like a true afl lover and worshipper. You really are Gil McLachlan’s number 1 fanboy aren’t you?

They have 150k with Stan sport memberships, Stan is losing content so those 2.5m will drop too and for those who want to stick without Stan subs well you can't even watch it in a pub or club.

That is why Fox has kept cricket and AFL and likely keeps NRL

Compare that to Kayo and the rise is on par, That is with the next bigger deals with the Sporting Organisations

The game is growing

anyone who isn’t happy about this is probably trolling

While we don't know the actual TV figures.

Last deal was $1.8B
This is minimum of $2B

You are looking at atleast $40m a year extra from TV
Cricket got $16m extra AFTER Covid
The AFL deal is still TBA as far as the TV part.

3-5 years there will be team 18 in and the 9th game is content.
NRLW is 10 teams and should be more by then too especially as Penrith already have a coach and elite womens comp running. so players won't be an issue. Give that extra teams and stretch it out to a 3 month competition.

As opposed to doing the deal now, Possibly getting more but you would then be 2-3 years from Dolphins coming in and about the same for the Womens game expansion. How can anyone say this isn't the better way to do it?

Let me get this right, you’d rather have the dolphins in now than wait three more years and earn an extra $500million? Maybe if we’d waited, signed a $500mill plus deal we’d be talking about team 17 AND 18 coming in in three years time! Not to mention if he’d started negotiating deal in late 21 or early 22 no reason we couldn’t have had the ninth game as part of the package to start in ‘24 With two new teams.

last tv part of deal was $1.9bill.
Of the $20mill extra a year this deal only around $10-13mill is cash.

so would I rather wait 3 years for expansion, if that, and have $100mill a year plus more cash
or dolphins now and have $13mill a year more cash?
Hmmmmm tough one!

Where is the extra $500m coming from?

This is where any discussion is pointless with you, You get these weird thoughts far removed from reality

If Stan Sport only has 150k, then the supply and demand isn't there for clubs and pubs. Super Rugby and Champions league is not enough. But Stan Sport will grow especially if they get the NRL. We are talking 2028 btw.

What sports are available for it to grow?
Entertainment side of things they lost a couple of big deals, So likely will lose customers across the board

Nine having all the league would be good for them and they do have the money for it

we would lose out from bad coverage including spider cams and poor commentators who would rather talk about the block

Someone like Stan sports needs to get Sky Racing on it's platform to have a direct in to Pubs and Clubs or it isn't going to be good for the sport despite the money.

As for the coverage, Gus 9 games a week is just what the fans want

So I guess in a nutshell in this thread, what you're saying is:

NO to Paramount
NO to Stan
All the way with Fox.

Even though it's January 2023 and a new deal commences in 2028.
