Well I could see Fox doing a deal as an extension of their US rights to still cover parts of NFL, MLB and Nascar. But without an overseas daddy or more NRL/AFL rights, Stan will be a tough spot.

Yeah exactly, Kayo can be a channel add on to Disney plus.

Stan is the one in trouble

Their revenue fell 38%

Ch7's halved.

Fox has a rich daddy to help, Hopefully Vegas gets interest for overseas providers
They bid 500 million for the afl

to get it from fox they would have to pay something ridiculous like 450 million pa(Stan only)

And you can’t just look at exisiting revenue to determine affordability

mew subscribers and sponsors will come from the nrl

Not for NRL alone though

My combination would be NRL, Big Bash, ODIs, NBA and a part EPL package of 4-5 big teams. Obviously plus a few other sports. You can make that sustainable.

You look at those. Cricket is staying, NBA is on ESPN which are owned by Disney - so in turn Fox

The nrl would be the content to build the network on

without nrl fox will lose 70 percent of its subscribers

This is going around in circles.

Look at Kayo's churn rate in NRL off season, That is with cricket, NFL, NBA etc to go with.

You have less TV content, No sport so you'd have 6 months where the subs drop off.

That doesn't stack up $ wise

For them to build their business enough they need the new owners of Paramount to shut up shop here and let them have the content again.

Remember Stan used to have their stuff and Disney's stuff. They have also lost the Peacock deal.

Foxtel built theirs up from being the only Pay TV company, Now there are just too many so content is everywhere

Why did stan and nine bid 500 million for all the afl

Why were nine execs quotes as saying stan will be a serious bidder

ignoring American filler content sport is the most important for any pay tv network

in Australia there is only one sport that matters on pay tv

foxtel losing the nrl could be a death blow

Doesn't say too much that isn't already covered by current discussions. But seems to suggest a bearish environment approaching to negotiate TV rights for NRL.
“while Nine Entertainment owns the free-to-air games, and wants more, particularly for its Stan Sport platform. “

Therein lies the key to a massive tv deal

Pay tv will need to be around 400 million pa

fta won’t provide much of an increase

Ever notice how PR always praises the fumblers and always runs down PVL and the NRL? There’s a lot of hate and negative energy in that boy.

AFR is owned by nine. Just more bullshit mind games they’re trying to play.
