With newscorp out of the picture I think Nine, and even paramount, would gain a bit of confidence in potentially securing the rights away from fox. It’s very hard to see the nrl leaving fox if newscorp still own it, particularly given V’landys relationship with them. However, there will be no loyalty or relationship with DAZN.

DAZN meanwhile would be pretty desperate to retain the rights that underpin the majority of the asset they’ve just bought.

The NRL have apparently settled on splitting the rights as packages like the NFL, which again wouldn’t happen if newscorp still owned fox.
I get where you are coming from. Their are two problems or obstacles for the NRL. 1. securing the 'most money' it can with the any or all partners. @. Having paid or contracted how responsive or hands on will the 'new owners' be.
Considering all the other sports they manage. It looks like it this will DANZ first sport where in contracted with-in the country. All the sports they show are for example ( premier league) is show only outside the UK. ie Portugal ,Spain and Belgium. It's not clear but are they buying Foxtel, or Fox sports or the whole entertainment ie movies, reuns etc and sports or just sports and KAYO. Because this would be the the first time going into he show business. Not sure they will manage that very good. Billionaire Frank Lowey while being a part owner ( with Larry Silverman) of the New York World Trade Centers ( all buildings including number 7 ) and very thoughtfully with his co owner insured their builds for Terrorist insurance, SAID while being the owner of Chanel ten in the 1980's? That it was like handling a fish, and sold up a few years latter ( Ch 10) ... I can just see it, welcome to Super DANZ Saturday we have 3 great games today... Maybe a league round in Tel Aviv -they will love it.

Too right. CEO Shay Segev, is in Sydney too run the ruler over Foxtel. It is NOT popular but I prefer the Lachlan (MURDOCK ) org running the show... than these 'israeli' style org running league ... I saw Lachlan at league's Las Vegas show ( on the sideline) last year. Just wait to see how unresponsive the new org ( Segev ) can be regarding league.
It's pay walled, BUT the front paragraph tell the story, or what you need to know.

Who is to say they even want NRL? They should it seems a no brainer but this sale brings unknowns to the table

You’re doing that all by yourself on here

What idiot thinks a dazn owned Foxsports won’t be interested in rugby league

Oh yeh you!

Never read such bs

Here is where you make yourself look like a fool.

I get you pretend to like RL but maybe use your head

A Ukrainian living in London that owns DAZN and Middle East backers would have zero idea what RL is

There are reasons they are looking to but Foxtel until it goes through then no one knows their plans

You think he’s spending 1.5 billion and isn’t aware what the number one program is ?

You’re literally just trolling now

Isn’t there something on the panthers or Bigfooty forums you can talk about

Didn’t you say seven had no money for more sports ?

Foxtel also has the rights to Cricket, NBA, F1, Horse racing that would be a benefit to DAZN in other countries.

Once again your comprehension needs work.

I said ch7 couldn't afford the WHOLE NRL rights but IF NRL broke them up until seperate days then them and ch10 would bid for say Monday night footy.

NBL produce their own content so is zero production costs and the rights sit at $15m a year. So is less than a Night of NRL would cost

Just remember who said Foxsports might not be interested in retaining rugby league

That’s one of the funniest takes I’ve ever read on here

Are all there?

Maybe get your carer to explain it to you

I said the Foreign owned DAZN might not be interested.

They have showed no interest in the past

Why would domestic rights have any influence on international rights?

They don’t need or want to know what RL is. It’s a business, they care about subscribers, that’s it, and a big chunk of the assets value is generated by subscribers for NRL content. They may decide they can’t afford the rights, but they will certainly want them.

That was what I mean't. They haven't in the past produced their own content.

Ideally they see a future in it and want it for all of their 20m subscribers not just the 2m or whatever comes with transferring RL across.

As opposed to cherrypicking what they want to add their existing sports to flog off internationally

Why would domestic rights have any influence on international rights?

Well cricket they can sell to the Asian market as well as keep those locally.

I am sure as rights holders in Australia it is opens the door to have talks add ESPN to DAZN particularly in countries that don't have ESPN +

WWE content is leaving Fox next month, The HBO stuff will follow.

So the question comes what value is in Foxtel as it stands now?
