Nines Thread

Yep a month to go and a bit of nines as an appetizer. Of course in my unbiased opinion Panthers are a sure thing.
Roosters wont be much chop being their WCC squad are in England this weekend and will be using mostly juniors. So the situation is that the Panthers have to pile on the "+" points because the GC and Nth Qld wont be charitable towards them.

Yeah being average some teams will just want to get some winning happening just to get that feeling flowing again. Winning/losing can become a habit.

Is Michael Gordon being announced in the TItans squad just a guest appearance. Didn’t he retire at the end of last season.

I’m not sure what to make of naming such a strong 9’s side. Trying to reconcile the pro’s and con’s and still can’t work out whether it is a good thing or a bad thing.

My guess is getting the new squad on field together in whatever capacity possible.

The coaching staff will have there reasons, valid ones so fair call to them. I understand you can’t wrap players in cotton wool so injuries can happen at any time on and off the field so we just have to hope all goes well and we come out of the nines with no season ending injuries. I don’t normally care for the 9’s but I am half sorta kinda looking forward to this one.

Next week v Tigers is actually a NSW Cup trial. My guess they wanted to ensure senior guys get a decent run

As a fan my thoughts mirror yours.

We need it after missing the 8 last time out.

You have guys missing in All stars. 9's is a good show case and tbh it will help us learn to play unpredictable footy

It might help to remind them to go forward as well. I noticed watching back 2019 was very lateral in that negative way teams sometimes do that makes it easy for the defence.

We attacked well enough til we got inside the 20 so they can do it. I’d rather go harder at the 9’s then the WT trial given all stars is then and got Bega the week after

Most token decision ever. Should've gone to Cleary to teach him leadership.

From memory it's the same spine we had in the 2017 nines with Api replacing Katoa. We were unlucky not to win the GF, lost by 2. Nicholls also played a part. Waqa and MWZ starred.
This team looks much, much better, and few calls may go our way without Gus and his big mouth.

Edit- I was sure Luai played in '17 but in his latest interview says the World nines was his first time in the format.
Ah well, should do some research instead of relying on the fading grey matter.
