I think he's referring to the punishment rather than the crime.

Then the implications are that multiple breaches of contract, having been formally warned for the same offence, shouldn't result in potential termination?

That's still really fking dumb

I'm guessing it depends on how important the merkin is. I know of a guy who works in commercial leasing who is a rude drunk. He is always in trouble with the board for his behavior and they are constantly debating if they should let him go. Then he'll go and sign a bank to a big deal over 10 floors in a top tier building and they forgive him. They earn a lot of money out of him and he brings home $750+ per year.

I don't think that ARU really want to sack Izzy, they just want him to apologize for the hurt he has caused to fans and sponsors and cross his christian heart that he will never do it again.

True. But irrelevant.

The fairness of the outcome for the average Joe vs a million dollar athlete isn't the point.

The point is that an employee of the ARU or RA or whatever they call themselves these days has twive breached the conditions of the contract he signed with them, in a manner that the business will not tolerate, and been terminated.

That's it. Simple. Black and white (hi Gary!)

Bill and any other unrelated party with a public profile really should STGU about it because all it does is muddy the waters of the issue.

Well he hasn't been terminated as yet. They had a hearing and 3 merkins found him guilty of a high level breach of the code of conduct and the panel is yet to rule on what sanction is appropriate.

Meanwhile ASICS has just dumped him.
