Anybody ever had a dislocated shoulder? Got one today after tackling a rogue wave at Mooloolaba beach. Now I can sympathise with footy players when they get one. Hurt like a demon. Hospital system gets my two thumbs up, especially after the morphine and laughing gas. 6 weeks in a sling, and that means for my arm. Looks like I'm going to need some physio, moving forward. I'd like to hear from others who have done the same to their shoulder. Sensible recovery tips most welcome.

Lucky person. Mine wouldn't go back in after two attempts, and to be honest, the pain was intense during and after the second attempt. Only way out was to morph me up and hit me with the 98 octane gas. I'm now more concerned with the recovery phase, long term outlook and typing with one hand.

You won't be able to do chin ups for a while.

I'd get some 420... Just sit rnd and smoke that for 6 weeks to numb the pain.

I had a funny clicking shoulder when I was younger. I got the shits with it one night after about 20 beers and was reefing the shit out of it. Woke up in serious pain. Didn't have dislocation but stretched the merkin out of all of the tendons and muscles.

Went to see a specialist and ended up doing a bunch of stretches which helped. Strong scaps are key.

Yeah, physio looks to be the key. I have to go back Tuesday so mI'll know more then. As I said before, I can understand why footy players are out of action for a while after getting a shoulder dislocation.

Yeah, a long time ago I did both of mine at the same time after a big night out. One popped in pretty easily but the other one wouldn’t go in no matter how hard I tried (I don’t recommend trying). It was late, I was drunk and tired so I had a few panadeine fortes and went to bed. The old man drove me to the local medical centre in the morning but they didn’t want a bar of it. Had to go to Hornsby Hospital where I went under a general. It was out until around 1pm the next day and apparently there were two doctors and two nurses trying to reef it back in. This is only part of the story but regardless...Good times.

It’s a pain in the ass to rehab but listen to the physio. I was half assed with it and now I throw like a 7 year old girl. It’ll feel very weak and vulnerable for a while so you’ll just have to build it up again. However, you’ll get back to decent function after a while.
