I think it's silly being a connoisseur of alcohol. Yes some tastes better than others but so what. You don't drink alcohol because it tastes great.

Of course he has a duty of care and of course there a lots of people who think he is dangerous. Anyone in the public eye with an opinion risks offending people. Many do.

There also lots of people who think he is hypocritical on some issues. I happen to be one of them.

I think it gives you a little mental uplift, possibly a dopamine thing, because you associate it with alcohol. You don't just get affected by alcohol because of the alcohol but because it triggers something that gives you a good feeling. A bit like a placebo. I watched an experiment once where they gave a bunch of people zero alcohol vodkas without telling them and pretty soon they were carrying on like they were drunk. So I think it goes some way to satisfying a craving that some people get.

So my beef with him really is that clinical physiologist who respected his profession would never look social minorities in the eye and blurt out bigotry, misogyny, transphobic or whatever comments that could potentially be physiologically damaging to the recipients.

When you've been pushed on the red you keep reverting with the green and thats a problem because the red is a far greater accusation. I agree he is polarising but I dont think he is a bigot, a misogynist or a transphobic.

You slotted those words in there to beef up your argument and now you are backpeddling in a big way.

Well the second quote there is just a reality and it would probably be better for some people to be told the truth. The first may be true as well so it wouldn't be transphobic. Does seem to be an awful lot more trans these days.

He "eased off in recent times" cause he was busy getting treated ( in Russia I believe ) for drug addiction, he quite literally fell apart. Probs met a dominant lobster that cleaned his room far better.

The media either fawned over him ( if it leant into the alt -right ) or inevitably dismissed him as a bit of a crank with vaguely weird ideas. To say they were lazy is plainly wrong. He was given plenty of air time and analyses, his ideas though just haven't really cut it in any meaningful way. He himself is little more than a commentator. How much attention does he actually warrant? I suppose though I'd concede that much reporting on him was embarrassing, in only that he got the amount of attention he got, it was far beyond the worth of anything he has to say.







This is deliberate, it allows the listener to take his main ideas and then interpret them to suit, mostly it's waffle, and yeah I've listened to him a reasonable amount as the right / alt right were hailing him as being some god-like intellectual. Some of the basis for his ideas are just pure nonsense, others are just re-wording of simple ideas into an incoherent mess of psycho-babble that's deliberately vague in it's delivery.

He's just using complicated language for the sake of it, to appear intellectual, it serves no other real purpose. Here you all are conceding you don't truly understand what he's saying, but he makes sense. Now that could be 'cause he's really really smart, however if you don't understand, what's the f**king point?

For mine if you have solid ideas and you really understand them, the ability to communicate them at level that your audience can grasp and understand is key. The ability to break a concept down enough to make it completely understandable to your audience shows a thorough understanding of that concept, of course you'll need different language for different audiences, however if you are generally speaking to the wider public, then language such as old mate uses adds little to nothing to what you have to say, it's faux intellectualism.

Well I’m fluent in both smart merkin and dumb merkin and I can tell you Peterson’s problem is that he’s trying to talk to both audiences at the same time. It isn’t babble and his ideas are internally consistent. It’s just very difficult to speak publicly to everyone without confusing some and talking down to others.
