Well this is how they appease the workers they throw at Bob’s problems, by making noise about social issues elsewhere. Have you never dealt with these people?

And this appeasement through making noise about shit leads to decreased productivity.

They’re a lot better than they used to be. At some stage they seem to have taken their partisanship criticism on board. Who knows though, with Labor back in they’ll probably drift back to activism.

Yeah I hear them address that sometimes and have on other pov but I don't know about being a lot better. Whatever your opinion on the virus for instance they are absolutely propaganda.

Are you talking about productivity or profitability?

They are inextricably linked. When you sell services, the cost of providing those services has a direct relationship with your profitability, productivity is a measure of input cost per unit labour / production. If you increase your cost of production, you affect your profitability.

Their flagships are all pretty much centre right, with a liberal lean these days.

I got an interest increase notice for my mortgage 3 weeks ago - I got another one on the mail today.

Sure. But it's been rapid. I'm glad I locked mine in till Dec 2024.

I’ve got 1.98% locked in for another 18 months. Not looking forward to it jumping to 8% that day.

It does when you conflate productivity with profitability. These huge corps are able to do things at scale that eliminates a lot of competition. They do a lot of box ticking type work, often to satisfy compliance regimes, relatively cheaply. They’re profitable because they’re able to do so much of it, largely due to market inertia. But rest assured, these corps are wall to wall with useless merkins. Productivity just isn’t a big part of their business model. Signalling is.

Culture and economics are both important, especially given most people derive their income from their activity in a workplace surrounded by other neurotic deadshits.

Plus CEOs like to look good amongst their peers. I've seen countless examples of 'look at me' projects designed purely to signal how progressive and amazing the organisation and their senior leaders are. Have even managed a few in my time.

If an organisation is big enough and profitable enough there's always room for signalling. In fact, thats pretty much all that a few CEOs I've worked with seem interested in.

My situations fine and I am not complaining. Lower interest rates would of been great for another 5yrs and helped a lot. But it isn't going to kill me and I'll survive.
I know some people that went silly with amount borrowed. And went balls deep last year right at peak and barely got much time of cheap rates. I should be empathetic but I guess it's their own fault for going in over their heads and borrowing to the limits.
