So... Is it ever allowed to dislike a non-white person just on the basis that they're a merkin?

Or are you instantly labelled a racist?

And this will blow your mind, isn't that attitude a little racist in itself?

Yes Anthony Mundine is a massive tool.

Everyone knows that and it's got zip to do with his heritage.

Michael Mansell is another - massive tool as well.

They both bring shame to their people.

The above is not me being racist.

I don't, he has every right to be offended by that comment, and to take it as a racial slur.

That's the difficult nature of racism, racism isn't defined by intent, but by perception, You can use a term you don't mean as a racial but if the intended target takes it that way, it becomes racist, whether you intended it to or not.

I look forward to the day I can openly hate everyone, rather than hold my tongue lest I offend somebody. It'll be magical.

Well I've been married for 25 years, so I've got that down pat. :D

But Adam Goodes wan't being a tool? On edit: and why is the booing only recent, he's been Aboriginal for a long time, yeah?

Explain the difference.

Dunno. I'm out of my depth cos I really don't know the background.

I'll leave the debate with this..

https://twitter.com/search?q=adam goodes tool&src=typd&vertical=default&f=tweets

All these people think he's a tool. So I give up.

Perhaps I have been backing him undeservedly.

Racism is uncool and I don't blame some for being reactionary.

I don't personally think he was being a tool.

The difference is that the behaviour that seems to have caused the intensification in the crowd response was behaviour that emphasised Goodes' pride in his ancestry. Now that doesn't mean that everyone who didn't like that behaviour is a racist. But there seems to be a small but solid core of card-carrying racists, a bigger group of casual racists, and another lot of fundamentally decent people who for whatever reason don't stop to think and analyse their own behaviour...they get swept along with mob.

I hope the crowds start booing the shit out of Kelly, Paulo and Morgan and they might stand themselves down.

Being a tool is being a tool, yet because theyre aboriginal, being a tool = bringing shame to their race? Why is being a tool only worthy of the mention of race when aboriginals are involved?

Being a tool does not bring shame to their people. Mundine & Mansell do more damage than good for the cause. They are cringe-worthy to most that they purport to represent.

How many people have boo'ed? Tens of thousands.

At the least, one of these people has done it because they are racist.

Stating it has nothing to do with race is therefore incorrect.

So it is safe to assume anyone asserting it has nothing to do with race is an apologist for racist behaviour. Case closed.

There is no doubt there is an element who can't think for themselves. Hence yes, you are right. They are sheep.
But there is no doubt that this started when Goodes called out the supporter for calling him an ape.
It has increased this season since he did the war dance.
If that doesn't have racial overtones, than I don't know what does.

I agree - there is definitely a racism element .... but the increasing is probably also due to the usual thing of, if you give someone shit and they react to it you know it is pissing them off so you do it more

I reckon all the AFL players should deal with it by walking off the field if it happens ... all you merkins can f**kin miss out on seeing a game you paid for, so f**k your eyes

They were talking about stopping play if the crowd boo Goodes.

Ironically if he doesn't play against the Crows the next game will be against Geelong who also have a player in Selwood that gets booed when he gets the ball.

I wonder what will happen if Goodes and Selwood are both fighting for possession.
