a lot of things destroy lives, lets ban everything.

I'll spell it out for you. If the pokies go, junior sports in New South Wales will die. That isnt a cliche, that is a stone cold fact that people that have no idea about NSW and only speak up to bag it out will never get, or refuse to accept.

Like drugs, drink driving, guns, speeding, racism? We've banned them and the world keeps turning!

WA has no pokies yet has a higher rate of jnr sport per head of pop than NSW so go figure????

I don't care if there's a pokie tax TBH.

But that's beside the point IMO.

I'm sick of of Gould constantly using his commentary position to voice his personal opinions on everything.

He is there to analyse the game. But he can't even do that, keeps making these stupid jokes with Rabs and draining the games of their intensity.

F*cking over him.

I find it ironic that N.S.W. lotteries ( which importantly was bought by a victorian based lottery company, tatts) introduced, and in this climate of the pokie reforms, a $15 scratchie ticket (yes folks, one ticket for $15!).

It wouldn't surprise me if this purchase,of NSW lotteries, is part of an elaborate scheme between these independants and Tatts to undermine the NRL and our sport by
hoping these reforms do go through so as to benefit from the over-spill of money that pokie players don't spend on the machines by directing their fix on the lottery outlets.

And it is amusing how we NEVER hear of lottery reforms.

People can spend thousands a week on all forms of lottery games and on-line without any restrictions.

Are the government going to make everyone that wants to buy a Poerball ticket or scratchie make them register and restrict their weeky spending? You can bet your last dollar they won't.

Not to mention the racing industry would love to see more money come their way.

Comparing WA to NSW is like comparing apples to oranges on all fronts. There's so many more factors you have to consider. Quite an ignorant comparison really.

I don't like this legislation at all.

But Gould and the club industry cannot have it both ways.

Will hurt? Millions of dollars will disappear from pokies income. This means that millions of dollars won't be put into the pokies. This is exactly the aim of the legislation.

Won't work? If it won't work then it won't hurt. See above.

The clearest campaign has been the simple message "Who voted for a licence to punt?" Answer - no-one.

Are you aware that pokies destroy lives and only a very small % of takings from Leagues clubs goes back to the community?

Can we slug a 50% extra tax on fast food outlets because fat people eat there and die of heart disease? Obesity ruins lives...kills people...a shitload more than pokies.

How about we slug Sportingbet with extra taxes or the TAB.

The people that support this reform also support the bandaid for a bullet wound bill. Its just as effective.

I wonder if this would have got past Big Kev if he was still in power?

[With Kev being a Queenslander,I doubt it very much]

I don't understand why people use poker machines, but if they want to throw away their money, let them.

i posted this earlier http://www.heraldsun.com.au/opinion...punt-for-gillard/story-e6frfhqf-1226142178528

talks about getting Rudd in and pissing off Wilkie as Rudd might be able to get Katter

Thanks El...and what the government hasn't thought through is that all people have to do is book a holiday to Asia to get theri pokie fix.

You watch how cheap the fares and will be to attract the Australian punters to overseas Casinos not to mention the sweeteners that could come with those packages.

Yep...more MILLION$ leaving the country...top shelf thinking Gillard & co!

I like a bit of a flutter every now and then, don't go overboard though.

Last sunday night was god, everytime i played i won.

went to the pub with $100, left after getting drunk on Jim Beam and cola bottles and buying dinner with $150.

No it won't. It will simply change.

The idea that junior sport hinges or gambling addicts is geniused.

Correct.

It's time rugby league clubs wokred out a business model that doesn't rely on people gambling away their lives to succeed. No other sport in the entire world relies solely on pokie machines, so why does our sport have to?
