There is a perception amongst some Qlders that the Titans focus too much on the Nthern NSW area for their jnrs rather than from the Tweed up, making them not a "true Qld team".
Hmm a bit like the QLD origin team then.

LOL @ the idiots saying we'll dictate terms but stick our hands out for a 150% increase in coin.
This has to do more with perception than anything else, and the Titans using the resources south of the tweed is not what it's about.I agree rnb, it is a joke but the opinion is there amongst some Qlders. There is a massive gap between Newcastle and the GC, about 1000kms worth, and expecting the Titans to stop recruiting at the Tweed river is silly to say the least.
Funny how the Broncos long relationship with Farrer Agricultural boarding school near Tamworth gets conveniently forgotten though.

No one is expecting them to ignore the resources available to them in that area, but I would expect them to be more active in the local clubs and schools... The Broncos just pinched 2 of the most promising GC youngsters right under their nose.
Regardless, look at the Titans teams since their inception...
Who besides Scott Prince, Ash Harrison, and to a minor degree Mat Rogers, did they have in their team that was a recognisable Qld figure, when compared to their NSW counterparts: John Cartwright, Luke Bailey, Preston Campbell, Anthony Lafranchi, Mark Minichiello, Greg Bird, etc...
Of this lot, only Preston Campbell is a local.
Their most successful team in 2010 consisted of 9 NSW'men, 5 Qld'ers and 3 NZL'ers.
Hardly screams Queensland, does it?
Since it seems (according to this argument) that the actual location of a team is irrelevant, then I can only assume that people will stop with the "more teams in Queensland, less in NSW" dribble.
Yeah right...
Nice try, but no.You're exactly right, in that it really doesn't matter where their playing staff come from. Most of the Storm players come from the northern states, but that doesn't stop the club identifying themselves as victorian.
If queenslanders can't embrace the (now established) Titans as a queensland team, what hope will a new club have?
I wouldn't expect them to ignore the talent that they find south of the border, not for a moment, but if the established teams in SEQ can't be bothered to scout for the local talent in and around Brisbane, then why would a new team choose to do so?

I haven;t heard any argument suggest that jnr talent in the local area is a big issue for or against. Every team scouts the country and other countires for the best talent they can snare. Location arguments have centred around TV viewership, corporate support/cannibalisation, and to a lesser degree supporter level potential.
Nice try, but no.
There are plenty of untapped resources in Qld, especially around Brisbane and only a fool would ignore those. There are 2 established teams in SEQ, and last time I checked, one of them has brought more Qld talent forth since its inception, than all the other NRL teams together...
There is a reason the QCup sh!ts all over the NSW cup. There is a reason many teams, like Manly, Canberra or the Storm, scout and recruit in the SEQ corner, and it'd definitely not because there aren't enough teams in NSW or too many in SEQ!

FU B!tch! :mrgreen:The thing is, with the GC, given a strong breeze they could piss across the NSW border from the top of their grandstand (and given what we've seen of Queensland league fans, someone may have just tried it). They are going to try to appeal to the Northern NSW league fans who have no team as much as they are going to target those further north. No other Queensland club would be in the same position. A 2nd Brisbane team or one in Ipswitch, Mackay or anywhere else in QLD is not going to have the same appeal to regional NSW league fans. I don't think drawing a parallel between GC and any new QLD club has any merit in this regard.
AFL is looking more and more attractive.
I am sick of our sports infighting and bullshit. One jaded fan....
Bears fans, Warnie could definitely learn a trick or two from them!
Before we know, they'll try to spin a story that makes Gosford and surroundings richer in untapped RL resources and more attractive to broadcasters than SEQ!
Oh wait... :sarcasm:

Considering Newcastle Knights have officially left the Central Coast, to have their own reserve grade (NSW Cup) team based in Newcastle, your comments above wreaks of irony. Because it is now officially untapped. So quick NRL, get the CC Bears up so we can set up the CC Cubs through out the grades and utilize those resources.
Stone said the Knights would continue to foster rugby league on the Central Coast through that regions own junior representative teams, then steering them towards the Knights once they graduated into the senior ranks.
Even though it spills over into northern NSW the Gold Coast is QLD. where they get their juniors is up to them.
