Not really where tricky is concerned. Parra shoulda just stfu till the contract was signed.

Apparently it is signed though, it's the NRL f**king around because they think the price is too low, you know, because Gasnier on $55,000 wasn't too low or anything.

Do you really think Stuart's whinging will put any pressure on anyone in the ARL?

He's turning what should be a great story, bringing home two guys who left the code, and twisting it into another "RL is under siege/RL player leaving for another code' story.

It's so small minded it's almost unbelievable.

Stuart complains signing of Folau may not come off, that he may go to another code. Eels fans and general RL fans in droves complain about how the deal should be done before someone else signs him up. ARL is scrutinized by a media that adores Stuart for fluffing the deal up. Negative publicity, especially when they've only recently had a change in leadership, is bad.

This is the early stages of that, essentially. The longer it drags on, the more the media will sit up, take notice and chime in. As much as it annoys some people, Stuart knows how to sway the media. If they don't let it through then the Eels, and by extension the ARL - due to how high profile Folau is - will lose thousands of potential members and ticket-holders. And it will be the NRL's fault, not the Eels, as it definitely seems that the NRL are the ones holding the deal up, not us.

This is why I think the deal will be done eventually. It seems more that Sticky is just trying to speed it up so that they can get Folau into training quicker. Do I agree with it? Not necessarily. Is it a good idea? Yes.

Just typical NSWhinging mentality.

Lol, it had to come eventually, was just a matter of time.
It was as obvious as setting up a spike in volleyball.

Actually, I think it has more to do with the after effects of being a Sewer League rat. How's that for an alternative theory?

The pony fans are incredibly biased, its Ok for them to have Lockyer on the books for between $200/$250k because its Brissie and they have lots of 3rd party deals

The Eels try to get a name back into the game and the numbnut auditor says he cant because of 3rd party deals and his lower NRL contract, FMD no wonder we have the tomtits

I dont suppose $BW is getting any 3rd party deals, hello hello is that you Nick/David/Mark

Oh a great idea. Lets turn this into an Origin argument. Lame.
Expect plenty of this type of thinking from now on from a select portion of posters.
Parra will be become a much reviled team amongst a select few because of Stuart.
You'd better get accustomed to it.

If they (NRL) are stuffing around and just being pains for no reason, no

The problem is we don't know how much the cap is in 2014. So it's hard to backend a deal. The NRL must have a rough figure in mind. Use that to workout if Folau & Hopoate fit and approve it. The CBA will get more rather then less of that figure.

This may be a bit controversial, but if the ARLC wants the game to take off to even bigger levels, then they need to ensure that the Panthers and Eels are very strong and ultra competitive.

The Storm and Broncos have effectively been given a leg up through the years, I would think that the NRL or whatever they are called these days, should get off their collective butts, get the Folau deal dome with Parra, and then get his face promoting the game all over Western Sydney.

That would be a win for common sense, hang on its Chalk and the commission :(

relax Eels supporters. according to QLD reds coach it was just sticky having a whinge.

and if any RU team was making a play for izzy I would think that they'd be screaming it from the roof tops with all the negativity going on in RU atm.

no need for the commish to make any exceptions for him.

Can't be 100% sure but I believe there are Rugby Union clubs outside of Australia. If Folau was ever going to go and play Rugby Union, it was never going to be for a Australian Super Rugby Club.

For what it's worth (probably not much considering the source), Terry Kennedy said on BSB this morning that Izzy is desperate to play fullback.

There's no reason that Issy can't train with the Eels. I know that Storm has had players train with their team who had not been offered a contract.

The delay with Issy's contract is no different to what happened with GI.

Everyone who isn't an Eels fan would be up in arms if he didn't take up much cap space - it's the great equaliser and all.

Could be done at parra especially with Ricky tipping hayne as a five eight in the future.

1. Israel Folau
6. Jarryd Hayne
7. Chris Sandow
9. Matt Keating

That isn't a too bad spine. Between 1,6 and 7 there is an abundance of raw talent but getting sandow on the same page will be the big hurdle.

I'd like to see sandow a lot more conservative to begin games and only use his flare when needed not when we are desperate. It's no secret hayne can naturally turn nothing into points. Sandow needs to get his kicking right and he will be the 'settler' in the spine and will end up being the halfback we needed

That's a pretty good spine except Folau isn't a fullback and Hayne isn't a 5/8. Why not leave Hayne at fullback where has the potential to be the best player in the game and leave Folau at centre where he has the potential to be the best player in his position in the whole league.

It makes no sense trying to force players into positions they aren't suited to when they can excel so well elsewhere. Hayne especially is truly baffling, i just don't see the benefit of switching his position. In the modern game the fullback is close to the most important position on the field and he is bloody good at it. Just leave him there and stop forcing him into the halves where he plays like sh*t.
