NRL faces major turmoil as clubs threaten breakaway league

Ok so the old fashioned footballer becomes boss style CEO is a bad thing, but an outsider with a Business background is also bad.

If a sydney club (like the roosters for example) was to waste all its money in unproductive junior leagues it would be seen as old fashioned, insular thinking by the old evil nsw establishment, yet because melbourne aren't doing that because their boss isn't looking at it like a football person it's also a bad thing?.

T-Goon wants to stop all over 25 players from playing any bush footy, because they should just be production lines. What's the point of playing if the players don't go onto the nrl, yet he wants melbourne to keep funding an expensive program that going into the storms 20th season has only produced 1 nrl player so far (Mahe Fonua).

We want Nrl Clubs to be financially smart, and to cut wastage, yet we want melbourne to pump money into a extremely unproductive system. Shouldn't the Victorian junior leagues come under the Grassroots and/or other states categories the nrl claims it spends millions upon millions on?

Ahh i need a lie down. This is a lot for my inferior bogan brain to process

Thats what I am getting at Von.
The Melbourne club's existence is really soley for the sake of expansion of the game and to grow the grass roots of the code in Melbourne (a task they have proven themselves to be pretty uninterested in) and here Melbourne Storm (more specifically Bart, a man who had never given a damn about Rugby League until 3 years ago) are taking the lead lecturing the NRL saying "give us and the other clubs more $, forget future expansion plans (expansion ends with us), we'll get our cut and invest it in our shiny new centre of excellence in......wait for it........central f**king queensland.

Spot on, that element is definitely there. I think its across all clubs too, and Bart is giving that a voice as the lead of those clubs. I am not against Bart (at all!) who as I understand it is very capable and is running Melbourne well enough. But I don't understand why in 3 years they have not sought to make more noise about this issue across the whole game - you guessed it - from the point of 'lets control spending so we can do juniors, ect, ect". The collary to your statement.

They should be looking for solutions that benefit rugby league.

Kawana Waters is in CQ, hey.

Good at alt accounts, shit at geography.

Bitter, bitter Canard. had to block me because he couldn't hack it I was right. Takes a significant lack of guts to do that.

Now, no longer seeing me, he's into other people. The mindless attack dog.

Guess this is why they are implementing the football cap in 2018.

http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/...-department-spending-cap-20161208-gt73cf.html

But at the end of the day, being blocked, I can't drum sense into you.

The storm look after their own backyard but being in a non rl town costs will be higher, I guess the future will focus on that kind of thing.

Look at this "The AFL introduced its cap on non-player expenditure in 2015, with a figure arrived at following a projected industry average spend"

Not that the guy is looking, right.... But it ties exactly into my funding model. I dont mind how these measures are implemented - (I mean a few in here called them bullshit lolz) but if they make it in some form why care.

Listen, all taunts and such aside...Thats not really what I said the other day (I don't think). I think I was defending touch footy as being a tremendous asset for rugby league and somehow I said something like that. I probably just meant I don't get why dudes keep playing the full contact version of RL after that age. Not that they should be obliged to retire.

Why do kids, who it's obvious from a young age won't make it to the nrl, keep playing right up to the age of 18?

All that matters is the interest of rugby league are being sought. An old hand that has zero business sense could technically run a club (if he/she were lucky I suppose) on the back on RL knowledge alone, and an outside business person can too.

I'll chime in off the back of a sentiment expressed by someone at me the other day. Look, I don't give a flying fk who plays the game - anyone can play it - and I dont mind who plays touch, ect, big deal, but to think that everyone in NRL is just running junior comps solely for the 5 out of 1000 kids who make it into the nrl, is utter bollocks.

The other day someone ripped on me because I dare suggest reps for groups after 23 years/whatnot were not as important as adequate funding for the entire junior comp, and it was nonsense to begin with. Then we spent 5 pages trying to get him to admit it was bullshit which he did not. Thank you world! lol

I get it.
Hanging out with mates. Community. Love of the sport. Some hot chicks dig footy players...

As I said I was defending touch footy as a legit brother of the rugby league code.

I find it interesting that the clubs have had Bart Campbell from Melbourne Storm represent them.

Since he has been in control of Melbourne they have made the decision to relocated their junior development system to Central Queensland abandoning Melbourne where they are meant to be growing the game. Bart has very little Rugby League background but has a big time business background.

To me it is indicative of the fact these clubs are purely about themselves and not about what is in the best interests of the future of Rugby League.

This had a lot to do with the nswrl refusing to let their hm and SG ball teams play in their comp unless storm moved their reserve grade to nsw cup from qland cup.

They are stil funding some Victorian jnrs to go to the qland academy but it is ridiculous and looks like a big cost saving exercise.

Victoria has been slipping behind wa and NT in the affiliated state championships and it seems even less development will take place now. Maybe some of the $100mill grass roots funding can find its way out of nsw and qland and help out?

that's all you post about here

always sucking their dick

so what about the strike of your beloved boys?

It's not relevant to NRL so of little interest to me or most on here. You seem somewhat AFL fixated and homoerotic? Is there a connection?

I mention the comparison, as nrl's main competitor the comparative performances of the two codes have great relevance. You just seem to like to talk about afl regardless of any link to the RL discussion?

Anyway back on topic, anything to add to this thread? No? Thought not.

Omg el creep is up to 82k posts now. What if I told you I am elds alt account? Did you know the word "alt" comes from world of warcraft? He plays Warcraft. But more importantly all those alt accounts he bags people about, they must all be him.

Mind. Blown.

And he just keeps getting more and more intolerant. Might be time to give it away el creep.

Oh geesus is this me turning into el creep?

Uh oh. He's everything we all aim to be. Let the alt take over, son, let it take over. Muhaha
