Love how this info gets leaked to the media straight away, Nothing like washing your dirty laundry in public. No wonder there is no trust between NRL and clubs. It's a very poor way of doing business, presuming of course it's true!
Its not a real article - its trying to lead you to a conclusion
Got to examine it.
I think its the classic 'pre-fail' or your situation is hopeless 'capitulate already' article.
It could be true, sure, but I have my doubts after their atrocious treatment of the 'truth' in the past few years. Heck, the past 2 decades.
I dont like the use and position of the word "promise" in the article. Why would they make another promise after what went down previously and they stated they were working toward something.
The article to me sounds very contrived or its taking a lot of liberties. Its almost as if it belongs in the far worse rag, the telegraph - its like that kind of article rarely appears in the australian where it literally seems to be sinking a knife in.
Its meant to be their 'upstanding' paper. I can't fully doubt it, or say yes to it, but I still have significant doubts. But we are not laymen here really. Its highly possible it was designed to fool people, or be a portent to the future, ect. If my memory serves me correctly, they met with some club group as late as wednesday, and they did the AFL presentation of the football cap.
NO other story mentioned any hassle. It could be the inside goss. But its just another stupidity thing in relation to all this, another brick. They signed MOU 12 months ago, and sh!t has gone down since then. So what, do a new one.
Also, the article mentions 'fears', and guys taking 'stances', and introduces the 2 other people gould called out the other day. Then 'embarrassing reversal'.
The paper is clearly stating through proxy that it wants grant to 'fall on his sword'
They are trying to instruct him.
Its a piss-poor paper. They have determined it will be the last one to shut down if they can help it. It loses like 10-20m a year. Its a wonder people even read it.
But the outcome could be similar. Just the article may have a few signposts, but not 100% basis. Article feels heavily edited by the head propaganda editor.
By the same token I don't think the clubs are that silly as to give up their power to the media, and just freely leak all this stuff. Unless the most negative of all inferences was taken by the reporter when he asked how it went. To leak this stuff as others mentioned is pretty geniused.
