Who would you have had at 1 ?

Tedesco had an exceptional year, probably close to his best at NRL level.

They all got lucky Tom was injured ;)

I thought Grant had a down year, but no real standout 9 this year

Final Dally M Men’s Leaderboard

Jahrome Hughes 62
James Tedesco 61
Daly Cherry-Evans 51
Tom Trbojevic 46
Scott Drinkwater 45
Isaah Yeo 42
Kalyn Ponga 40
Dylan Edwards 34
Ben Hunt 33
Harry Grant 33
Its amazing how posts get misconstrued. I was remarking how thatwasnthighrefs multi picks were all correct except he went for Dylan Edwards at fullback.

Not many win a comp in their Dally M year, can Hughes join the list. Was a big gap between 1986 and 2008, although Gower would have gotten it in 03

That's really enlightening looking at it like that.... looks like Taumalolo is the only non-spine player to win it since Gavin Miller in 88-89. Makes sense when thinking about it I guess, but shows what a beast Taumalolo was that year.

Yea I dunno TBH. It’s not like Galvin is the first rookie to be rubbed out. Preston was ruled out last year, and so was Walsh during his debut year with us.

I don’t remember Gus blowing up those times. Maybe because it’s because Galvin is easily the best of this year’s crop, but if it’s the principle that Gus is arguing then he’s a bit late with his outrage.
Yeah I'm not so worried if it's happened before, it just feels wrong. He won the RLPA rookie award, so that's a good result.

To be fair to Gus, who is usually biased, Galvin isn't a Dogs player. And Gus was (?) at the Warriors when Walsh was with us, and I don't remember it coming up.
I thought it had to be 2 games to be rubbed out.
Galvin was suspended for two games, maybe it is?

Dunno if Galvin was really "head and shoulders" above? Strong rookie crop this year, Iro (who probably should have won) and Bostock had excellent seasons, and Ethan Strange was similar to Galvin in being a young bloke taking over in the halves. Probably tailed off a bit compared to Galvin but I wouldn't say miles behind.

I'd say Iro was probably better as a centre than Galvin was as a 6, so it's a question of how much weight you give to being good in your position generally, vs the bonus points you give someone for being a spine player.

Iro was my rookie of the year. Galvin look like a good prospect but with the media hype comes pressure so not sure if he can maintain his good string of games.

Jack Howarth was my rookie of the year by seasons end, but he didnt play enough in the early rounds so didnt have a chance.

One more sleep! I've got about 15 percent left in the tank and I'll need at least half of that for the Pacific Cup.

Yep, all fair points. No doubt there is, subconsciously if anything, more weight given to being a half - the biggest responsibility in the game - as a rookie. Particularly in an awful team like the Tigers.
