NRL officially docks 2 points over Bulldogs 14 players

Harrigan came out and admitted that it was a mistake and should have been awarded a try. Instead we missed out on 6 points and the Bulldogs got a penalty. Double punishment for the Panthers.

The actual penalty awarded was for a double movement, although there obviously wasn't any double movement in that tackle. At no point did either of his arms or the ball touch the ground before he crossed the line and the referee didn't call held before then either.

Thats why Panthers should get 2 points.

yes it was a mistake, but that doesnt mean it shouldve been a try

What part dont you get. The effort of the defence dropped off once he called 2

When a player falls over the line without a second movement.... it's a try. The same as if a player is tackled in the field of play and slides over the line without moving again it's a try.

Harrigan admitted it was the wrong decision. Just as the admitted that the Broncos match winning try was from a knock-on and shouldn't have been awarded. Doesn't get the teams on the wrong end of those decisions their points though.

We didn't cheat though. :)

Youre still missing the defence dropping off when the ref incorrectly called two or held.....who knows if he'd have scored if the ref performed properly, no one ever will.

Pennys should get the 2 though, as highlited on FOX tonite, Ryan went to 1st reciever in the play that scored the winning try, that IS being part of the play

Who cares what he thinks

When the ref called 2 it makes a huge difference. The try couldnt have been awarded because of his call

its simple, he made a mistake but that doesnt mean a try should be awarded

What part of that dont you understand?

We didnt either

But trust me, you'd probably need to this year

I understand it just fine. I'm not just stating my opinion here. It has been confirmed that the wrong decision was made. It's not the first time this has happened, and it certainly won't be the last. How hard is that to comprehend?

The referee didn't call held. So he couldn't penalise the Panthers for double movement. He f*cked up.

The correct decision would have been to send it to the video referee. The video referee wouldn't have been able to find a reason to disallow the try and he would have awarded it. To cover himself he probably would have awarded it as BOTD.

Instead the Bulldogs got a penalty for the referee making a mistake.

We didnt either

Using 14 players is cheating. :?

What are you on about

Yes he f**ked up, but the Bulldogs shouldnt pay for it either

No, why would he send it to the video ref? he was right there

Do you even know what happend? Do you understand the rules?

The ref called 2, the effort of the defence dropped. There is no way in the world a try could be awarded under those circumstances

The reason is because the defence listened to the call of the ref

Using your logic, if a ref awards a penalty for offside, the defence stops, but the ref changes his mind and realised he made a mistake and calls play on, then a try is scored. A person like you will be alright with that decision.

Thats ridiculous

Wasnt deliberate, so its not cheating

When the referee makes a mistake or interferes with a play, the advantage is meant to go to the attacking team. The same as when a team kicks the ball and it hits the referee, the attack team gets the feed the scrum. Even if it was on their last tackle.

No, why would he send it to the video ref? he was right there
Because he obviously didn't see what happened. Or else he wouldn't have penalised the Panthers for double movement. A video referee would have been able to have a closer look at any rate, and use BOTD as an excuse.

The circumstances don't matter. Jarrod Sammut scored a try under the posts according to the rules. The referee f*cking up doesn't matter.

Once again, Harrigan has stated it should have been awarded.

Using your logic, if a ref awards a penalty for offside, the defence stops, but the ref changes his mind and realised he made a mistake and calls play on, then a try is scored. A person like you will be alright with that decision.

That is ridiculous... If the referee had awarded a penalty he would have blown his whistle and that stops the play. Anything that happens after his whistle blows is irrelevant. If a team scores they come back to the penalty. That's not even remotely similar to what happened in this game.

Anyway i'm over it. The NRL have said that it should have been a try and that's enough confirmation for me. Obviously our opinions are biased regardless of them being right or wrong.

Show me the rule that says it wasn't a try? For the 10 millionth time... the NRL has already confirmed it should have been awarded.
