let's get one thing clear here, did Penrith readjust their defensive line to mark up on Andrew Ryan?

Given the player went entirely to the other side of the field and Penrith's line shifted accordingly - no I don't think so.

Had this happened in the first 20 minutes, and not at a time where the game was hanging in the balance, do you think the same penalties would have come about?

Seeing as I'm one for taking attention away from the incident - is there a reason Civoniceva hasn't been cited for his late hit?

i saw footage of it on foxsport and ryan is in the attacking line on the right hand side and ennis is down in backplay they had 14 players at the time roberts scored. i know its harsh but if it was the dogs defending and ennis was down in backplay the dogs would only have 12 players.

Why they just don't apply the 13-man rule inflexibly and clean up all this nonsense is pure NRL. Sure, there'd be a few ultra minor cases at first, but they'd wake up pretty soon.

My eyes might be shot but I can't make sense of your sentence Paul  What do you mean?

You can only have 13 men on the field - as clearly stated in the rules, any infractions, however minor attract the points penalty.

I disagree Paul, because the punishment doesn't fit the crime.

I think Tallis might have been onto something - all players have to come on and leave from a designated area (unless they are on the medicab). This should remove all confusion as to who's coming on and going off.

Does anyone know how many interchanges were used when Roberts came on for Ryan ?

Roberts coming on for Ryan was the 10th and final interchange. Given that, we're actually looking at two breaches here: 14 players on the field at one time, and an illegal 11th interchange (and possibly 12th is Ryan went back off again).

Losing points is justified, IMO.
