I reckon there was a couple of weeks of Vegas loading in it. Embarass the game on the big stage, wear the consequences. Especially considering how badly that slur would have gone down if the same incident occurred in US sport.

Do you think so? Vegas wouldn't know the outcome, they aren't invested in the media after the game, I wouldn't have thought. I thought it was 8 for a good reason - to send a clear signal that racism and belittling of a race won't be tolerated and to send a message to the public that the NRL will be tough on issues. This code tries to shoot itself in the foot enough with incidents, it doesn't need the headlines of a soft response to someone being called a monkey.
