NRL Rd 27 2025 - General Non-Warriors Thread

I certainly think he does. Apart from the fact he should be in jail which we can set aside, he has barely played any footy for 3 years, and was offered a lifeline to get back into the game, which then was backed up with a long term deal on coin that is extremely fair for a centre. With his past he should be putting some runs on the board before making demands
Well I guess that’s the crux of my thinking… I don’t think 500k is fair for a centre/wing of his calibre (as a player).

IMO he’s worth at least 650k and I suspect the Tiges know it too but were simply trying to pick up a steal which is fair enough.

But - and again as a player only - he’s very quickly reestablished himself as one of the better outside backs in the whole comp, let alone the Tigers. And being equally adept at both centre and wing only adds to his value.

He has only played 37 games of NRL, I certainly can’t put him up in the upper echelon of players in his position, especially when you consider reportedly To’o is the top winger in the 600s and the top centres are around 800

I don't remember us trying to get Kieran at the time. I thought he was still on a long term contract with Manly back then?
Nah he was but I distinctly remember when we signed Liam, there was the feeling it was dangling a carrot for Kieran to follow him in future years. Kieran had been an Aussie Schoolboy star, was obviously a Kiwi etc and whether or not management saw it that way, it was definitely the talk at the time

Probably unfairly, given Liam was also a Junior Kiwi, had been at Melbourne and played first grade etc. He didn't last long at Mt Smart, unsure why (but did join Kieran at Manly)

I remember hearing that Kieran was absolutely filthy at Liam’s treatment at the Warriors, which was why I was surprised at the time when he signed. I guess though upon Kierans exit there was a quote from a warriors staffer that Kieran was the most disagreeable person he’d ever come across at the Warriors

Yeah I remember the Liam treatment part, too. I also remember there were issues around Liam leaving in June, a few months into a contract but don't remember the details.

He seems to be a good person but gee, it seems like there were a lot of years where he was a pretty average one

While off topic, how bloody good is this, Grass roots sport where you can have a ciggie and a bourbon and produce something special haha

This brings a tear to my eye…

Professional darts is the one sport that still gives middle age fat blokes around the world hope that we might one day still fulfil our dream of walking into a cheering arena.
