NRL Rd 8 2025 - General Non-Warriors Thread

The story with legs is 'Galvin' and we get to see him on the field this weekend, with Luai, Api, Benji, etc, all around him, with Moses from on high watching closely, the drama!

Tonight, it's a belter in Brisbane. Surely the Bulldogs will drop one? The Broncos have lost three-straight and Madge must be getting angry. If we don't see a Brisbane turnaround then at least expect a couple of droppings, or haircuts!

Anzac Day, tradition still plays a part. That's the Roosters and Dragons in the afternoon. The Warriors (who blew their once showpiece game at Melbourne) now have the much easier Newcastle in Christchurch. Will Ponga have an 'angry blinder'? Melbourne have Souths, that could be a keeper.

Saturday, Dessie's troops are up in Townsville. The Cowboys have come good and are expected to hold off the Raiders from the south. Speaking of the Raiders, no wait, it's Penrith and Manly next. A Saturday night special. Both sides are deeply wounded although the Panthers are back on their feet somewhat. Canberra and Redcliffe is tough to pick, toss a couple of coins to decide the winner?

We close with the NRL's version of Dallas, Dynasty, Santa Barbara (I loved that one), Days of Our Lives, Shortland Street, Prisoner, well, maybe they don't want that last one. Anyhow, keep your eyes focused. There could be a few plot and sub-plot nuances, clues to the madness.

Enjoy!

Sounds like the deal has been done today, and in 2027 we have the Western Bears in the comp.
Hmmmm, OK. It's such a long trip to Perth. Will they play some 'home' games at North Sydney Oval? (I'm just presuming they have a connection to Norths).

If it had to be WA I wanted it to be independent, like the Reds were. In effect a real WA side, not a faded Sydney side trying a rebirth on the other side of the continent.

I look it as the opposite. It’s a win win for both sides. What’s so bad about having some Bears cash and players from the NSW cup side. And for us Bears fans we might get 1 home game a season - Win/Win

The smart part of having the Bears involved, is for the probably at least half a dozen games they play in Sydney each season, the away crowd is going to be bumped up with Bears supporters turning up in numbers. I love the history of the game so happy to have the Bears back. They were the first league jersey I ever got, remember getting rewarded as a young fella for a good report and choosing the new Citibank jersey from the CCC factory shop

Tried to do some stalking today, couldn’t find the Warriors, found the Knights having their captains run but they wouldn’t let us have a look which was a bit of a shame.

Young fella got a photo with Fisher-Harris yesterday afternoon so that’s the best we’ve got so far. Asked him today who he is looking forward to seeing the most tomorrow night, and Tuaupiki is his man

Arthur an interesting call, guess someone experienced had to be the go. Good thing is it isn’t Barrett 😂

Not sure who else would have been viable? Cartwright, Brennan?

Bears by name and colours only hopefully.
Suspect some teams in Syndey will be paid to take their home game to North Syndey oval vs Perth Bears.

Not the ones I know, die hard Union like most Kiwis. But newd to give them a team or maybe at least a South African born player to support.

42-18, a hiding at Suncorp. We'll see how Canterbury respond next week. It could tell us a lot about their much talked about resurgence.
