when you’re in negotiations and supposed to be an equal partner, having the other party make public announcements before agreement with yourself is a pretty strong sign of disrespect. Especially when it was done to make the players look the bad guys and greedy. worked on some eaily led on here though It would seem.

the players have never said it’s not still about the money to some smaller degree, you’re being disingenuous to claim that. Here’s what they are actually saying:

“Our claims are completely reasonable, and the biggest sticking points are non-financial. This big hold up isn’t because of the salary cap being far off, it’s a number of things the NRL isn’t even willing to talk to us about.
“I don’t know what they’ve been doing throughout the year.”
welch

the only unreasonable thing I’ve seen them ask for is a seat on the commision and I totally support the arlc saying no to this, and they should kick off the clubs and the state bodies as well!

If the cap is sorted then why not annouce it?
Clubs know they are getting $5m on top of the cap, Without the cap amount they have no idea what they are getting.

Match payments outside the cap for Magic Round and Finals is unreasonable.

The retired player fund being run by the players only, Shouldn't the NRL have a say in it? Some ex players don't deserve access to it. So the joint control of makes sense

Clarity for the NRLW players...

They currently have no indication of season schedule, roster sizes, salary cap, and insurance information.

The cap is set for that. The schedule is the tough one because it needs exposure but do they want to play out of season? That is reasonable to be held up

My apologies - I did miss the NRLW Salary Cap announcement as it was in with the NRL.

The schedule is tough, but it needs to be done because, unlike the NRL, the players have employment to work around. Without the schedule, teams aren't signing players because they don't know who will be available.

Without contracts players aren't insured. Meaning they training with a risk to their careers - AND with the All Stars game 3 weeks away, there is potential the NRL would be expecting players to play uninsured.

... I guess that pales in comparison to the schedule "needing exposure".

The players correctly want to sign multi year deals.

Say someone signs for Newcastle for 3 years, Wish to still live in Sydney/Brisbane around the season.

How do they do it if the 2024 and 2025 season is played at a different time then the 2023?

So it all goes together, The NRLW schedule should be locked in for the length of the CBA

- Past player program is another ( Like to see the detail of this)
- past player medical support fund for injuries that happened more than 12m ago while playing that need surgery in later life
- past player hardship fund
- past support program
- maternity leave
- base match fees
- CBA now covering 1000 players rather than 600
- RLPA claiming players took $98 mil paycut
- everyone has private health insurance
- first ever NRLW CBA
- NRLW using NRLM and us fans as a negotiator tool
- players dont want transfer windows

- threat of strike action is very real
- no NRL.com headshots

Yes that is a interesting question

I know a late 80s player who needs a knee operation does he qualify?

There has been a couple of stories in the papers of 80's players homeless, Do they count?

I don't blame any side for it dragging out because of details like this needing sorting out

Interesting perspective from a past player about this -

Hopefully the fans call them on this on social media and they stop the negative publicity

these power trips by the clubs and the players are bad for the games image

they should let the commission do it’s job instead of interfering

Because it wasn’t “sorted”. Clearly the players are looking for a bit more.

Other questions I have are

does the 32/34% base request include
- player support schemes
- insurance payments
- retirement fund
- rep payments
- NSWRL, QRL tier 2/3 player payments
- Junior player payments
- travel costs
- award payments & events
- grassroots payments
- developing the game costs

Match payments is another weird one

Should a player on salary get match payments?

Or if they all get match payments then should clubs reduce the base salary

I think the match payments is based in the nrl gettin* a large income from finals and magic weekend games, p,ayers want a cut of it as a revenue stream. It’s one of those I’d tell them to jump. A $12-13mill cap, which is a 20-30% increase on a tv deal increase of less than 10% cash is a good outcome for them. ive got no problem with them campaigning for better conditions, especially post playing.

Pretty sure it doesn’t
