If salary cap is $11.45 mil plus $883k plus $640k or about $13 mil

Then the grant should $13 mil x 130% = $16.9 mil or about $17 mil

The extra 30% covers the football operation
Is it still proposed to the club grant still be set at 130%, or at $5milion over the cap level? the number 5mill seems to have cropped up a few Times in articles.

clubs are laughing, used to be the club grant was below the salary cap level, then they set it at equal to cap, then it went to $130% over cap, now it could be closer to 140%! Good time to be a club owner.

Back in the days when Clubs had a say in when they had home games

How long ago was it that tv choosing fixtures came in? Feels like forever,

You can't expect clubs like Cows and Penrith that prefer Sat night games, to get lumped with Thurs and Fri night games and no compensation.

All clubs should get the same grant so the extra is fair

I’d say that’s true for the shthouse thurs night and fri 6pm game. After that you should be able to draw a crowd if youve got a decent sized active fanbase.

Is this a premature start to the endless negativity about crowds?

God bless America.

More than 160 American-based rugby league players have agreed to immediately fly to Australia to help save rugby league should NRL players decide to strike.

In an extraordinary development during the stalled collective bargaining agreement discussions, The Daily Telegraph can reveal the USA’s Championship Rugby League plan on contacting ARL Commission chairman Peter V’landys to offer a contingency plan to relocate to Australia to ensure the NRL competition starts.

He didnt say that at all lol.
Its like you dont understand the concept of respectful negotiation! You know where yu let the other party know if you're going to make something public.
And no it sounds like they didnt agree the final amount, as has been mentioned by numerous people re the 32% to 34% of revenue comments, and 'not far off' comments by numerous players and RLPA.

Did you really miss these direct comments from Wade in that??
"at the beginning NRL started late and didnt know how much work was needed in it"
"Abdo unable to make headway, Pistol Pete comes in and goes through process again delaying it further"
"announcement on salary cap which hadn't been agreed to"
"biggest issues for players are agreement on non cap issues"
"not happy with levels of respect shown"
" we agree things around the table then the next draft doesn't have it included"
" when you look at our cba compared to other sports we are down the bottom"

Wades been through 3 CBA's and sounds like this is by far the worse process he has experienced. Thanks for posting the interview, its a damning indictment of how the ARLC is managing this!

I hope the players stick to their guns. What they're asking for is not unreasonable. The NRL have really screwed the pooch on this one.

Planting that ridiculous story with the DT about seppo players coming over to start the season shows just how desperate the NRL is becoming.

Nah

because people would rather watch a good team like the panthers on this day

the 17.1 million each club gets is enough compensation

plus having more fta games helps gets more sponsors

ask the raiders if they would like more thur night games rather than being on fox

But is a player cost even if ex-player

And now the question is is this in their 34% requests

Or us 34% really 45% when include things like FBT
Exactly

players agreed to the 34 percent figure then put in other demands which mean it will be way higher and are blaming the arlc for not caving in

Exactly the grant is perfect given the circumstances and probably more reliable then relying on a teams form and weather staying nice for those Sat night games

The grant seemed to be fine at $3mill over cap, what's the extra $2mill over cap they are now getting needed for?

"We don't want it to come to (a player strike) but if the NRL are going to sit on their heels and not budge, who knows where it's going to go?"

Not really much of a threat.
So they agreed on the salary cap figure but still won’t rule out strike action ?

yeh who cares about the rugby league brand

we don’t need sponsors
