Some of the female journos on twitter make me laugh, going ballistic about the women’s pay at 884k. I’m sorry but it’s not the woman’s game that brings in the money. 153% increase and still bagging the nrl.

Yep. The comp brings zero money in

I've been a critic of Vlandys but this is a fantastic outcome. On the back of this, and corporate partnerships with Westpac and Kia, I am more confident he will get the right outcome on the all essential tv rights (and if/when he does I'll happily eat (more) humble pie).

The real winners are the players 26-30 who now join the Top 25 under the same conditions

So NRL clubs have money for a NRLW team

But we still have 7 clubs waiting to be allowed to play
There's no rush, i mean the talent need to grow beneath, it shouldn't just exist until there's enough players in the lower grades to promote into for these new clubs, i know panthers are starting up a 20s local comp, specifically to have them ready when they receive their licence, which was speculated for 2024-25, dependant on the stadium upgrade

The NRL has announced the salary cap will rise to a record $12.1 million in 2023 while the minimum salary will jump from $80,000 to $120,000.

In a Christmas boost, players who have ratchet clauses will receive an 18 per cent increase to their playing fee, which will be back-dated to November 1.

Clubs have been working to a cap of $9.5 million but had anticipated the figure jumping to about $10.9m.

The cap for the top-30 squad will increase to $11.45 million, a 22 per cent rise on this year’s figure. The development list will increase from $240,000 to $650,000.

That development list increase is f**king Huge..
Are they increasing the size for the development squad, is that why its that big, thats a significant bump up...

Well now PVL aint going nowhere, he just polished everyone... lets bring on the slow clap

So 12.1 salary cap and each club receives a grant of 17.1 million

this will be the base

it will go up each year as well. And with any profits above forecast also shared with players and clubs

NRL clubs will want $12.1 mil plus $883k plus $5 mil football office cap(not sure if this is changing yet and it needs a NRLW component) as the grant plus travel costs

Good old Clint still having a sook because he didn’t get his moment in front of the cameras. PVL should just sack off the RLPA, see how many players fancying walking away from the game as a result and going to be a tradie instead.

compared to last tv deal/negotiation (2018)

Proposed salary cap increase (no deal is yet signed) 21%
projected club grant increase 31.5% (a projected extra $82.7mill a year)

tv deal increase 4.4%
Projected nrl total revenue increase 15%

as usual with pistol Pete and his hand puppet running the show the management of it is a total balls up with rlpa saying no agreement is yet signed.
if it stands players and clubs have done very well. good to see min wage raised.
Pistol Pete has bought himself some more time in charge with his generous bag of gold to the clubs.
Be interesting to see where the money is taken from to pay for it.

You do understand the arlc has announced this without an agreement with the players actually being signed dont you? Do you know what the C stands for in a CBA?

There would be some sort of agreement or they wouldn't announce it

Of course - I’m not just talking about this 1 issue though, I’m talking about sacking the RLPA off completely.

Why? The rlpa exists to protect the players. It’s a good thing. Not to mention legally they can’t stop players joining a union. If you think the rlpa is bad you should try dealing with some of the unions I’ve had to deal with In getting cba’s agreed!
