I don't think anyone has an issue with someone like Alex McKinnon getting all the money he needs.

If Joey is still having neck issues 10 after retirement should he still get covered?

That is the reasoning behind having a end date, Maybe that gets extended out but it shouldn't be open ended

In your example those people are pretty much unable to work another job as is the case on with a work cover claim. Most players can work just can't play the game

Joey was a superstar with a guaranteed media career.

A massive false equivalence to the train and trial or minimum wage contract players.

Yow Yeh and Simon Dwyer suffered life altering injuries early in their careers.

You think either can go work a physical job even now?

The words from the November thread do:

Interesting breakdown and given the differences between the two parties, an imminent resolution seems unlikely.

Generally sympathetic to the points raised other than point 6. What covid taught us is that NRL needs to build up an asset base to future proof itself. So long as that money is being used to invest and grow assets, that is something we should all agree is prudent.

That is all money which the players say it isn't about.

Sam Burgess was medically retired in 2019, Now is an assistant coach. Should he still have medical bills covered by the NRL?

That is the detail lacking from the coloured tiles on Social media. What is the middle ground here?

What?

The medical support find tile from today's post literally says it would be (presuming of course those medical bills relate to injuries sustained as a result of his career).

They are ones that should be looked after it can't be a free for all, Which is what I am waiting to see from the RLPA.

Which is probably why it has dragged on because there are no easy answers here

Couldn’t find many comments which supported their views

everyone was saying they could cut the cap and pay for all the extras they were asking for or just pay for it out of their wages

The medical side of things, what the players are saying is that at the moment you only have 12months after you stop playing to get any surgery done on injuries sustained from football. What they want is longer coverage after they retire which is 100% fair enough.
Nah they can just pay for private health care

or just get it covered by Medicare if they’ve blown all their wages

you know like most businesses do

You do know workers comp is a thing for “most businesses” and it’s mandatory they have workers comp insurance, right?
Are you trying to argue players aren’t insured whilst they are playing ?

you do know that nrl players receive their full pay whilst injured don’t you

Lmao

Not sure how maternity leave would work in the NRLW when its still year to year contracts

NRLW in general still seems to be a big sticky point. And they are using the mens CBA as leverage

Comments like
- how long will a season be
- we cant be paid 50% of a average wage
- maternity leave
- no one can sign contracts for 2023

You ever tried to get a job while on workers comp?

Those who have an ongoing disability sure, Those who go in to a highly paid job after footy should foot the bill themselves

Do you know how Workers Comp works?
It only works when you injure yourself while "at work"
If a player has a problem that effects them after they are not playing, which wasn't attended to whilst they were playing, ie: say a bulging disc, there is no workers comp allowed due to playing rugby league.
If they are at their new employment when it occurs, then the workers comp is from their new employer.
If they wake up one day with an issue, that has all intent probably come from their playing days, it will not be covered by Workers Comp.
I've been through it, iCare and their doctors would dismiss that case scenario with no thought.

They need to tell people what they are after if they want the public on side. Instead of just bullet points

I did

if you think the players actually care about those things then good for you
I love that you ask for info, ask for detail, then when it appears in a clear and concise manner, you just dismiss it because suddenly the players don't care about those things? (Which they clearly do if they're looking at boycotts)

I have mentioned Burgess.

GI was medically retired, rightful his injuries should if been treated.

He was then well enough to play in ESL, Yet people on here think NRL should continue to cover him.

There needs to be a cut off somewhere.

Players think 12 months isn't enough, I am happy to back their judgement. So what do they think is good enough? Get that answer and the CBA may get somewhere

They haven't provided any info, Just the parts they aren't happy with
