I don't think anyone has an issue with someone like Alex McKinnon getting all the money he needs.
If Joey is still having neck issues 10 after retirement should he still get covered?
That is the reasoning behind having a end date, Maybe that gets extended out but it shouldn't be open ended
In your example those people are pretty much unable to work another job as is the case on with a work cover claim. Most players can work just can't play the game
Interesting breakdown and given the differences between the two parties, an imminent resolution seems unlikely. The words from the November thread do:

What? That is all money which the players say it isn't about.
Sam Burgess was medically retired in 2019, Now is an assistant coach. Should he still have medical bills covered by the NRL?
That is the detail lacking from the coloured tiles on Social media. What is the middle ground here?
Joey was a superstar with a guaranteed media career.
A massive false equivalence to the train and trial or minimum wage contract players.
Yow Yeh and Simon Dwyer suffered life altering injuries early in their careers.
You think either can go work a physical job even now?
What?
The medical support find tile from today's post literally says it would be (presuming of course those medical bills relate to injuries sustained as a result of his career).
I didThe colours must be all you observed because based on the rest of your post, you clearly didn't read the words on them.
Nah they can just pay for private health careThe medical side of things, what the players are saying is that at the moment you only have 12months after you stop playing to get any surgery done on injuries sustained from football. What they want is longer coverage after they retire which is 100% fair enough.
You do know workers comp is a thing for “most businesses” and it’s mandatory they have workers comp insurance, right?Nah they can just pay for private health care
or just get it covered by Medicare if they’ve blown all their wages
you know like most businesses do
Are you trying to argue players aren’t insured whilst they are playing ?You do know workers comp is a thing for “most businesses” and it’s mandatory they have workers comp insurance, right?

Couldn’t find many comments which supported their views
everyone was saying they could cut the cap and pay for all the extras they were asking for or just pay for it out of their wages
I love that you ask for info, ask for detail, then when it appears in a clear and concise manner, you just dismiss it because suddenly the players don't care about those things? (Which they clearly do if they're looking at boycotts)I did
if you think the players actually care about those things then good for you
Do you know how Workers Comp works?
It only works when you injure yourself while "at work"
If a player has a problem that effects them after they are not playing, which wasn't attended to whilst they were playing, ie: say a bulging disc, there is no workers comp allowed due to playing rugby league.
If they are at their new employment when it occurs, then the workers comp is from their new employer.
If they wake up one day with an issue, that has all intent probably come from their playing days, it will not be covered by Workers Comp.
I've been through it, iCare and their doctors would dismiss that case scenario with no thought.
