You wre talking about 'Rugby', which refers to Union.

If you are going to debate League, get the name right.

Then quote me directly cause I don't know where I made this phopah amongst all my postings.

OK, lets get the Seppo's argument straight.

1) Padding is a weapon

Obviously being hit by a soft, foam object rates high in th USA's fear factor. But you have to hand it to Gridiron CEO-s - they invented Basketball to keep their athletes fit over winter. The also invented pillow fights to train their juniors.

Your juniour pillow fight is basic ignorance and the diff in injury rates between the two sports shoots down your argument in spades.

Rugby League actually has a similar concept of the aggressive pillow. It's called a Chris Walker tackle.

Yawn. Thats why league suspends players for high tackles. Thats basic violence that really isn't noticed in football.

2) Gridiron players are more active during a game

Never said more active - just every player on every play and constant one-on-one action. Two things that are not a part of in league.

Dickhead, you can't seriously think that spreading a team that plays half a game (approx 40 minutes) over FOUR HOURS to be strenuous!

Have league players change their game to start off every play with a scrum. Then allow and require blocking. Adopt the forward pass and your getting close. Idget.

Especially when your argument is based on the fact that for every play, all bodies are in motion.

One more time - not in motion. Either one-on-one contact or physically beating the man across from you on every play. League is NOT played like this.

Same in league. It's called a defensive line in the 10m rule.

What your describing here is whats happening in between plays in football. Not DURING each play as in league.

3) Americans have superior athletes

We dispelled that one at the last 2 olympics. And, unlike US teams, we didn't need steroids.

Good grief. Come in for a landing.

Why are Australians so fitter? Maybe something to do with the fact that every suburb, town, outback post or community has access to a swimming pool and a sports field. IN the USA, where a sizeable chunk of population is locked up in ghettos (Yes, we have areas of poor urban housing, but I can still show the pools and sportsfields available to those who live in Redfern, Claymore or Mt Druitt), no such advantage exists. Australian lifestyle is, overall, far better than the average US lifestyle. And we have more chance of living our natural life, and not being gunned down because of outdated gun laws.

A very high percentage of athletes come from poor neighborhoods in the states. You have no idea what your talking about here.

And finally, last Wednesday we saw a classic example of how League players are far more skilled that Gridiron players. Which Gridiron player in history has, during ONE game, showed the same array of skills as Andrew Johns did?

You don't wanna go there.....

And you don't want to give a decent answer to anything anyone says, hence this thread being 27 pages long.

That's the funny part about this myth league fans have of the bigger players. Can't play a match? A league match doesn't even make for a full practice session for these guys. Those NFL coaches run those players into the ground to get em the level of shape needed to play in the NFL.

Imagine a club playing 3,4,5 matches in one day. That's what they are put through in two-a-days practices.

Way to many millions involved for those guys NOT to be in shape.

Those fat players aren't in shape. They are specialised to be fat and a giant roadblock. Honestly, you can't believe that they could handle 15 minutes of a league game in a forward pack? They'd be constantly offside after tackles.

Cam, my 'local' Gridiron club is probably close to 400kms away.

How lethal is a helmet? A helmet is about as hard as a human skull - the To even suggest that Gridoron players wear helmets because they would hurt the opposition more is just tripe.

I've already posted info on why there are more concussions in football as opposed to rugby/league. It was one of the ignored posts by a certain someone. You must have missed it. Including those concerning second impact syndrome.

Needless to say, no one in league is anywhere close to this sort combination size/speed.

Again, that's because he is African American (better sprinters than white blokes in general, of course with a few exceptions), and we don't have many of them playing league.
That is NOT racist, for those who want to say that - as bene pointed out a few times already in this thread, there is a clear genetic difference between the races, as seen in Olympic 100m finals - hardly ever see a white guy there.

Fat doesn't mean they are out of shape. And imagine the training regiment equal to 3-5 matches a day. That's what thery go through. That's why they are in much better shape than what you comprehend.

I could list a bunch of "white' guys faster than anyone in league. But, like I said, there isn't anyone one in league on this level and those are the sort of guys these fat slobs are used to tackling. But you guys turn around and say there to slow and tired, which is bunk. And catching these sort of players proves that. And don't tell me there aren't any black players in league.

Those fat slobs are also quite often up near 6'8 so of course they can dunk.

'6 "8 is on the rare side. More like a 6 '2 to 6 '6 on the average. And a lot of thin people at that hieght can't dunk.

I've elaborated a great deal, many times over many peoples head. You just don't like the answers or the reality of the differences between the two sports.

My only NFL knowledge comes from playing Madden, and quite alot of those guys are around 6'7, it has their height listed on the game. Ignoring that, I don't know what 6'2-6'6 guys you know that can't dunk but I know quite alot that can, having played basketball competitively for 11 years.

There is a good number of em in the '6 7/8 range, but they are still a minority. Robert Gallery who came from my school and plays for the Raiders is '6 "7 and 325 lbs and ain't fat. He's very fast and as strong as sh#t.

Sounds like league fans have a hard time comprehending this reality of the NFL.

The equivilent of 3-5 NFL games a day eh?

That'd be comparable to sitting round the box with a few mates watching the footy and eating pizza.

Is that why they let them stand around for 30 seconds everytime someone gets tackled?
