Shouldn't Manly try to cash in on this by rebranding as North Sydney Sea Eagles and marketing themselves heavily to investors and kids from the area?

A North Sydney Sea Eagles embedded within the North Shore and Northern Beaches within 20 years would be a major asset to the NRL. We need to think long-term.
Rinse and Repeat... Rainman at his best... i reckon there's 50 posts about North sydney eagles by Mr.Marketing here... mate no one cares, repeating the same shìt won't make it come true

Then don't be surprised when the NRL becomes a shell of its former self over the next 15-20 years. RU's downfall was down to not changing its ways to bring in new audiences. They put teams in new areas, but marketed them to the same people and relied on revenue from broadcasting rights to fund the top tier of the game.

RU FÜKD up, they went to a super rugby route, instead of keeping clubs like Eastwood and Randwick relevant, if your playing state of origin every week it gets boring, plus if your product is old and rigid, where the old school rules deter from making the product better then rugby here in aus will always suffer, at the moment, its not comparable to NRL

Eastwood and Randwick aren't relevant outside of Sydney. People in Queensland, or anywhere else outside of NSW for that matter, are not going to pay to see these teams play or watch them on TV.

Netball is growing with a truly national competition. Maybe we can learn something from them.

The first few seasons of Super Rugby were pretty good. The problems that crept in didn't stem from the regional/provincial concept - it was other things (poor timezones for games in South Africa, excessive travel demands on players, expansion to non-traditional markets with few steps to ensure those teams would be competitive from day 1, lack of "salary cap" style talent equalization rules).

Now, you could argue that the tier UNDERNEATH Super Rugby is a mess (what's the best solution - club based or province/region? The powers-that-be seem unsure.. and a bit jealous of NZ's provincial tier)

Anyway, if the Super Rugby route was so bad, why is Australian RU wanting to re-start it as a 12 team trans-Tasman/Pacific competition without SA, Japan, Argentina?

If Rugby Australia wanted to put Randwick & Eastwood up against the Blues or Hurricanes, most New Zealanders would be baffled. ("What the hell are these teams, and where are they from?")

The brand recognition that Australian rugby clubs have here is practically zero.

No one knows about Aussie rugby clubs in Australia either. Only the small RU community over here know about them.

If Canberra beat Parra

Guess what

We have a "regional teams PF" at Suncorp

Product is hidden behind paywall. Wallabies still do big ratings in Sydney

NRL Conference Map _24 teams.png

Possible 24 team comp, existing 17 brands, then expanding to either areas of
Adelaide, Perth, Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton/B.O.P, West Brisbane, Cairns/P.N.G

2 conferences, play own conference H&A, and other conference once, top 4 play off from each conference for finals

Well thats only if we get upto 24 teams, and it would be 34 rounds for that...
hell if it got up to 24 clubs, you'd think it would be 4 conferences by then, bringing the rounds back down to 28 per season, which would be a better draw, means =
*QLD are in their own conference,
*4 NZ/sharks&dragons,
*VIC/ACT/SA, 3NSW
*remaining 5 NSW/WA

This actually wasn't the real giants logo, it was a stimorol logo card they put out as a place holder for the real logo, which ended up just being a running man
download.jpeg-4.jpg
This also happened with broncos and knights too, they also had a similar issue for stimorol
They put out a cartoon mascot busting thru
