Each NRLW club should have 2 spots for British or French players. The Super League Womans team should have 2 spots for Australian players and be played at a different time of the year to the NRLW.

French Women's International Perinne Monsarrat obviously didn't get a full contract - maybe a development one ?

Perrine has been awarded a development contract. I've seen her play a few times for France. Plenty of natural talent, but it was never likely that a player from the more languid environs of Rugby a Treize would be NRLW-ready after a short spell in the NSWRL premiership.

The opportunity to play in Oz arose from Trent Robinson's desire to help French RL. The club obviously share that commitment and are prepared to be patient. Apparently she's working part-time as a receptionist at Easts Leagues Club.

Good on Trent, and good on the Roosters.

Players are aware there is no grey area with this. Biting is categorically verboten.

Yet still, the primeval self-defence instinct momentarily surfaces. A reminder of "Nature, red in tooth and claw". We would normally use our limbs under perceived attack. But in a completed tackle on the ground, when the arms are locked in and holding a football, the only option available is fangs.

Judiciary will likely feel obliged to make a point.

I would say send-off sufficient. It was a mad moment. And probably only a nip.

If the offence were repeated, by all means throw the book at her.

Has anyone been tracking the crowd numbers for the stand alone games? It would be interesting to compare how well each team is supported.
I'm at the Sharks Roosters game, so I'll share if they announce it.

The call that rubbed out a Sharks try against the Knights proves conclusively that the bunker can't be trusted with the obstruction rule.

At least Billy and Allana were clear in the commentary - "that's not obstruction". Normally you get waffle like "tough call" or "very harsh".

The bunker also struck in the Broncos/Raiders match. Brilliant Broncos try cancelled by another lunatic obstruction call. Great play that should have been on the highlights reel and could have gone viral on social media. But the bunker had other ideas.

Officials are stultifying the NRLW. The comp cannot thrive if all the players can safely do is smash into each other.

Have to admit, Knights/Sharks was very ordinary. A game like that lays bare the full effects of obsessive compulsive refereeing on women's RL.

At one point, Brenton Speed said the players seemed paranoid. Giving themselves up fearing an obstruction call. No defender was obstructed, a call might not come, but playing on risks turning the ball over. So they stop playing and surrender. Terrible look. The obstruction rule is out of control. Likewise the bunker.

It is awful isn`t it. I saw one the other day where the player having run behind one of his own men, hst about 3 metres behind, froze on the spot, the defence line moved forward - past the player deemed to be obstructing - to confront him, and the ref still blew the whistle. He hadn`t bloody moved, by staying put and the defence line moving past the obstructor, any obstruction should have been nullified and it should have been play on. Absolute f**king madness.

Wonder if they do their own research? The most curious and tiresome slant is when they know all the details of a player's "Rugby background" but next to nothing about her League experience.

Mele Hufanga scored 4 tries for the Broncos against the Cowboys. Would have been a neat stat to mention she also got 4 for Tonga against Niue in a Pacific League Test at Mount Smart. Sadly, the commentators were only aware of her Union record for Tonga.

During Jesse Southwell's NRLW debut last year, Ruan Sims said she was adapting well in "her first game of Rugby League". I see Ruan as a hybrid of Blocker and Dame Edna Everage.

Allana Ferguson has got better. Sammy Bremner has been okay. Tarsha Gale rather less so.
