Article before the 2023 NRLW season

Head of Football Mark O’Neill said, “The Club is very happy with the squad we have pulled together for the 2023 NRLW season.

“The team represents both great talent and great culture off the field and we can’t wait to see these young women build on yet another successful year,” O’Neill said.
Must have been a Great culture they lost half the GF team from last year.

MON has done a competent job since taking from 2018. But seriously the best thing for the club might be having the Tigers offer him a return there.

I think some change in the football operations is needed to freshen things up. The whole joint has gone stale and the board are too gutless to punt BA.

Our CEO is another Pascoe without hair, an utter dribbler who got his cushy gig through the back door. The scary thing is it seems the club have written this seasons utter disaster as just one of those years. I’ll say it again standards of this club are utterly embarrassing.
I reckon we will see if the board actually give a toss about NRLW or if it's all just box ticking exercise promoting the fact they have a female side in the competition.

If they really care about NRLW then changes have to be made otherwise it's just ticking a box.

And if that's the case just ticking a box why bother have an NRLW team if you aren't serious about winning competitions and demanding success.

I’d argue this board aren’t even serious about the men’s team winning, otherwise how does Bea Arthur become the longest serving Eels coach of all times??? I doubt these idiots are doing all they can to make our club successful I really do.

You could count on one hand how many sporting organisations allow the head coach to last a decade without winning anything.

How did we lose our best players to the Sharks Raiders and Broncos?

Penitani was signed up but we released her and what did we get out of it?

How did the Sharks afford to sign her bt
We also let the fullback go to the Broncos under contract, I doubt we got anything for her as well. The club didn’t even have a crack this season.

He is the first I would be rissoling then Widders. No one surely think Widders is the coach that can take this team to a GF again do they after what former players have thought of his coaching?

You don't lose 15 players from a GF squad in one off season if the coach is respected. You just don't.

Seriously what a debacle heads have to roll over it.

We had a 2 year head start on the expansion teams. And basically let all them overtake us in year 1 off a GF appearance.

I don't want to hear the excuse we lost players returning to there junior clubs like Penitani.

Clearly the junior development isnt good enough. And it hasn't translated to the NRLW team.

Our CEO is a master at corporate spin on the rare occasion he opens his mouth.

A master at anything would suggest he is great at it, but he is total sh*t at even that. We can all see through it. Hardly master material.

Lost 14 of the 17 and 15 if you count Botille Vette-Welsh who was out injured but definitely would have been there had she not been out with a ACL.

Inexcusable!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No only bigger blowouts I'm afraid. If the same coach is there, then expect the effort and motivation to get even worse. We lost it up front in every game. We have Elsie Albert but I can't see all that much improvement overall. She can't do it on her own. We had so much fire power, now we are just so lightweight and weak in the middle.

Widders isn't the man to turn this around. More will leave as they seek greener pastures. I know I would.

Do we know if anyone who signed on this season were signed for more than one season? Or will there be another exodus to (even more) expansion clubs, and we start over again...

I noticed a bloke on the other site has stated that we are the only NRLW team that isn't represented in the NSW Cup for women. And don't have a 2nd tier side.

It begs the question how did we get a NRLW Licence in the first place without a 2nd tier side.

And is the club going to address this next season. By having a side in the Female NSW cup.
