Woods starting prop, will need to improve massively at this level. Topou question mark on the wing, will be targeted and hopefully his defence is up to it. No dud pearce=we have a chance!!

Too much emphasis is placed on form. Form is a variable that can be affected by the players around you at club level and the structures the coach has in place. Souths, Canterbury & Easts all benefit from the same thing. Their form comes from the blokes in the middle - Toleman, Graham, Eastwood Kasiano, Klemmer for the Dogs; Sam, George, Tom & Lima last year for Souths; & Moa, JWH, FPN, Kennedy last year for Easts. How many of them can be picked for NSW?? All 6 inferior halves and some of the outside forwards of these clubs benefit from what their superior team mates in the engine room do. When the chips are down, these support players have nothing.

Fulton & the coaches have no idea.

Look at the attributes players have first and foremost. Select based on this. Problem is, Fulton and Daley (& Stuart before him) don't know how too or are lazy to do the work. They take the easy option of selecting a bunch of support players from a club team in form for a few weeks. Shame most of the players contributing to the dominance of these teams can't be picked!!

Well said. Agree completely.

As for the team, backline I'm fine with. Halves are ok (better than the Roosters duo) but Mullen has been completely dudded. Worried about Woods starting but I guess he deserves another crack. Hoffman is a proven Origin failure and someone like Sims deserved a go. Tony Williams is the luckiest guy in the whole 17.

No massive issues with the side IMO. We aren't blessed with amazing halves so I can handle a club pairing that are experiencing on-field success. Not sure about Beau Scott but he can play well at that level.

Just imagine, with all this focus on "form" and "club combinations" it could so easily have been Wallace and Soward as our halves for origin.

They even have "origin experience"

Lewis, while a great player, has only had two, very poor games.

Is there absolutely no one else capable of replacing him in the side?

The 2nd row loooks very weak to me, Bird, Cordner and Stewart being unavailable doesnt help I suppose
