So in the Sg ball it will be

Melbourne Vs Manly
Bulldogs Vs Norths

And in the Harold Matthews

Parra Vs Wests
Bulldogs Vs Newcastle

It looks their is a good chance of being two Bulldogs teams in the grand final which I think will be the first time ever! Which is good signs for the club!

And also in the SG Ball their is a good chance it might be two interstate teams! Which would be very Different if norths can beat the Dogs and Melbourne can knock off Manly

Good luck to the dogs in SG Ball, they fought back well after a slow start and proved to me that they could win arm wrestles not just walk overs. From what I saw yesterday at Shark Park it's a shame both teams(Dogs and Jets) didn't meet further into the finals, Jets fault for dropping games during their injury crisis in early rounds. Mind you the injuries were inflicted by the dogs, probably some karma there. As you can tell I'm a jets supporter and it's exciting to know that there were seven u/17 players in the starting 13, if they stay together they should have a great 2010. In my opinion the dogs #6 was the difference between the two teams.:D

I think you are talking about Ali Hijazi. He has been in the team of the week nearly every week. Nathan Massey also returned from injury and played well apparently.

That is awesome! I was at the game noticed use did have a few 17 year olds which is awesome news for the jets next year. A real young core with your halves both being 17 and your fullback also!
To be honest our number 6 was the difference in my belief almsot costing us the game. He is an awesome player, but it definitly wasn't one of his best games, I think 3 of his kicks were charged down.
The dogs front row i think was the difference, Their was no standout performances in the whole match, it was a well fought battle between two teams never giving up not wanting to lose to the other!! I dont think one player in the either side could be disappointed with how they played. It was an awesome game

The things i noticed the most was the dogs defence in the second half comapred to the first half. The first half they got sucked in down the middle big time and thats what caused the jets to score tries around the dogs cause they were getting sucked in so much. In the second half the dogs worked alot harder and from both sides rushed up and shut the play down many times saving a number of tries. Those deserved of mention were both wingers and the halfback.

And it is very true I wish they could of met further into the finals!

Bulldogs Harold Matthews Report

The Bulldogs Harold Matthews side survived a first half scare to power past a courageous Townsville Stringers to win 38-16 in the Quarter Final clash at Toyota Park. The victory makes it 11 wins from as many matches for the Bulldogs as they'll face Newcastle in semi final action next weekend.
It wasn't all one-way traffic for the Bulldogs as they trailed 10-0 early on. The Bulldogs were shell shocked early on by the onslaught by the Stingers and faced their toughest challenge from an unknown quantity. The Bulldogs got onto the board through Anthony Boyd-Myers when he scored a determined try from dummy half to make the score 10-6 Townsville's way, which remained the score until half-time.
The experience and professionalism of the Bulldogs outfit told in the second half as they gained momentum and had too much class and superior fitness for the Townsville outfit scoring six tries in after the half-time break.
David Klemmer crashed over to level up the scores at 10-all and the Bulldogs hit the lead when Josh Rainbow crossed over. Townsville bundled up a chip kick put through by the Bulldogs with captain Samisoni Langi on the spot to score under the posts and at 22-10 the Bulldogs confidence was sky high.
Lelani Latu was too strong for the Stringers defence to crash over for the Bulldogs 5th try following excellent lead up work by Brenden Santi and soon after David Minute proved unstoppable scoring his 13th try of the season. Wilson Faanoi crossed for the Bulldogs final try to make the score 38-10.
Townsville to their credit never gave up and was rewarded with a late try to make the score 38-16 in favour of the Bulldogs.
The Stingers did the Townsville district proud with their effort, but the hardened experience and professionalism of the Bulldogs tolled in the second half, but Townsville gave them a massive scare in the opening 30 minutes as they came out breathing fire.

Best for the Bulldogs included Peter Irwin, Brayden Motti, Matthew f**kof**ka and Brenden Santi.

Bulldogs Sg Ball Report

The Bulldogs SG Ball side had to overcome several hurdles to defeat bogey side Newtown 32-26 in the Quarter Finals after being down 18-4 at one stage.

It was a gutsy win by the Bulldogs as they had to dig deep and in the end had to show the attacking prowess that has made them a dangerous force this season.

Newtown has been the only side to defeat the Bulldogs this season at SG Ball level with a 20-16 in the opening match of the season and when the Jets raced to an 18-4 lead the signs was ominous that the Bulldogs season would start and end with losses against Newtown. Last year the Roosters ended the Bulldogs SG Ball season in the semi finals and the Jets this year took over from the Roosters as the SG Ball side.

The Bulldogs made a promising start with Aidan Sezer scoring the opening try, but Newtown produced three unanswered tries, which were all converted to lead 18-4.

Two tries before half-time and both setup by fullback Nathan Massey put the Bulldogs within two points at the break. Massey created the Bulldogs second try when a nice long pass found winger Ratu Tagive to score in the corner. Massey was involved again when made a long break down field and a few tackles later captain Liam Ayoub crossed over.

Newtown scored moments into the second half to lead 22-16, but the Bulldogs got within two points when Richard Irwin scored a fine try from 30m out. The try was unconverted with the Jets holding a slender two-point lead.

The Bulldogs needed some inspiration to put the game into their control and it was left to front-rower Teni Waipouri to provide the key match-winning moments. An excellent flick pass by Waipouri allowed second-rower Ben Aualiitia to score and moments later the powerful prop crashed over the Bulldogs surged to a 32-22 lead.

Newtown added interest late in the match when the scored to bring the margin within a converted try, but the Bulldogs defence held firm as they advanced to the final four where they hope to avenge for the disappointment of last year.

Best for the Bulldogs included Dale Finucane, Teni Waipouri and Liam Ayoub.

The Bulldogs will play Brisbane Norths next Saturday at St Marys Leagues Club Stadium with the winner to play Melbourne or Manly in the Grand Final.

In every team there is a worker, the player who does all the tackling but rarley scores a try. I wonder if that sort of player will ever be considered for team of the week ? :?

Why dont we just change it to, Who scored the most points this week team ?

I don't want to spoil the team of the week party, but you need to take this with a grain of salt. Most clubs rotate their player of the week options, it's a pat on the back team, not always the best players. I also take the point about scorers dominating, for example a lot of the best back rowers don't score a lot but create heaps of tries for guys hanging off their hips, Cordner, Bur, Atkinson points in case. Until proper stats are done as per NRL it's a guessing comp. Using it to put NSW teams lists together is also a joke. Sorry if I'be busted any bubbles.

I want to talk about the top 12 system and what everyone thinks of it.

Im not too much of a fan of it being sudden death, although I like the idea of top 12 as not all teams play each other in the regular comp.

I suggest the following, using Harold Matts results and this years dates as examples

Round of 16.......Sat 18th April

All teams play each other as programmed and 4 highest placed winning teams go thru.....

Wednesday 23rd........ unless top 6 teams win

Two lowest ranked winners v two highest ranked losers

so St George would have had to replay Manly, and Gold coast, Central coast on wednesday giving Manly and GC a second bite of the cherry. they could have maybe even played each other or the opposite team to one they played

The following reound would then be played on Sunday the 26th

Therefore, if one of the higher teams loses, they get a second chance cos they have earned that right thru the season, but then they also have a disadvantage cos they will have to back up midweek and would be in serious doubt for rest of finals.

Discuss your ideas...........

so therefore.......(see next post)
