NT Game vs Cowboys - Game Day Thread

Just to correct an error...

We picked the Cowpokes as the opposition for last nights game, not the NRL.

I and others had thought that the NRL picked it, but it was confirmed for me that the club preference was the Cowboys.

Apparently there were a few factors involved in the decision.

The biggest factor being that we're still a dumb club.

You're missing the point - there is no one scapegoat. Everyone in our team is at least ok. Sure there might be half a dozen better squads, but that doesn't mean any of our players cost us any given game. Looking at our squad, we are a mid table side. I don't see why you need a f**king scapegoat.

The Cowboys would of been the last team I would of played, Canberra, Penrith, the Warriors anyone but them. It was a home game for the Cows in conditions that suited them. Absolute Stupidity on the clubs part.

The Wariros are who you'd choose. It's got to be a 10 hour 2 flight minimum journey.

Taking games to Darwin is obviously beneficial to the club, even if it's not beneficial to you as a fan. Of course you don't care if the club makes any money. You just want to see them win.

Or what if part of the exisiting deal was to play one of the two most popular clubs in Darwin (i.e. Cowboys or Brisbane) during the 4 year agreement and we chose the one with arguably the worlds best player and as a result saw unprecendented media coverage in Darwin and a record NRL crowd.

Nah mate didn't you hear? The weather was too good. The club should know that Darwin has nice weather, it's entirely their fault for playing a team who enjoys nice weather

The refereeing and the protection of JT in his return from injury put us off our game and exaggerated the difference between the two teams. But yeah, they'd have beaten us anywhere.

So what, surely making the finals is an achievement in itself??? Surely making the finals is good for sponsorships and exposure to legitimate TPA's????? We haven't made the finals in 8 years even just scraping in is something the club can hang it's hat on and help to build for the future. it was a stupid short sighted decision based on quick money.
