SOUTH Sydney have made a shock late bid to sign troubled halfback Kieran Foran.

The Kiwi Test ace is all but certain to sign a deal with the Warriors despite interest from heavy hitters Canterbury.

But RLW has learned that Foran’s management has held secret talks with Foran in a move that may jeopardise his deal with the Warriors.

Souths are keen on an established half after losing Luke Keary to the Roosters and doubts about the long-term future of Adam Reynolds at the club.

Foran has all but signed with the Warriors but is torn because he is not keen on living in a different country to his small children.

Signing with Souths would mean he can still live in Sydney, close to his former partner and the kids.

Before any deal can be signed the NRL must first approve. Foran needs to show officials that he is mentally healthy to return to the game on a full-time basis.

I don't get how 3 months ago Foran quit footy and a massive contract with us as he needed time away from footy.

Yet three months later he is looking for a contract. And one in NZ away from his kids.

I understand he probably realised, he needs a job to survive. But seems strange within 3 months he is ready to play again.

Seems like he was pushed out of the eels or there is "bad blood" between us/him.

I am sure we were building a case against him. We stripped him of the captaincy and issued him with a breach notice. Those are facts. The rest is conjecture.

You could be right however. Notwithstanding the background to the story, I am sure that we are better off this way than being lumbered with a hot and cold marquee player with personal links that cast the club in bad light.

I recall Tim Smith having asimilarly speedy "recovery" upon release too, even if things sadly didn't work out too well for him longer term.

you're not exactly qualified in that area and I daresay you've never met him so its a bit of a stretch to be able to diagnose him from behind your keyboard
