Oh sh*t,

Well this is going to make me sound so soft.

Any rate.
Yeah Michael Jackson was fantastic in the 80's and Early 90's.
I love Icehouse, the song Great Southern Land and the album Man of Colors.

Mark, you will be extemley delighted that this song (with no vocals though) is played every time Australia takes the field bowling in home cricket test matches, wether at the start of play, after lunch or after tea, everytime they take the field. Unfortunately its been played a heck of a lot this year to date :(

E.L and P. Their first album was brilliant! 'Just Take a Pebble' and 'Lucky Man' are two of my all time favourite memories.

Mine too - from 1971 - although I didn't start getting into it until about '78-'79.
They realeased "ELP - Works Volume One in '77, which included this -

ELP had an incredible knack to throw a beautiful acoustic track (see below)in somewhere out of the blue, when so much of the rest of their stuff was rather out there.
Greg Lake was the acoustic champ, while Carl Palmer was the drum king, and Keith Emerson was a brilliant keyboard player/pianist.
They were 3 extraordinarily talented musicians. They made it much bigger in other parts of the world, but unfortunately, the staid music programmers on Aussie radio gave them little hope.

'The Sage" - Greg Lake - from "Piuctures at an Exhibition"., by Mussorgsky

Ces't la Vie - Greg Lake. Works - Volume 1.

And up there, if not better than Lucky Man is

"Lend your love to me tonight" - Greg Lake - Works Volume 1

And just for you Lingard

Finally, one of the great Christmas carols of all time.

"I believe in Father Christmas" - Greg Lake - Works Volume 2.

So good, that these guys even covered it.

* Billy Thorpe: I don't think I need to say why, but here goes...I wasn't familiar with much of his work, bought "Tangier" and it blew my mind. Amazing vocals, incredibly rich sound, combining sounds from traditional rock, middle eastern and Indian influences and just an amazing album. I checked out his other stuff after hearing "Tangier" and I was very impressed.

This.

Some great names mentioned, so many favourites:

The Beatles, cant go past McCartney/Lennon, so many great songs written and lyrics and music is just amazing.

Led Zeppelin, this fab 4 is one of the best in history. Page, Plant, Jones and Bonham.

Jimi Hendrix, a great guitarist and song writer. Who could also forget Mitch Mitchell the bands drummer. One of my favourite drummers.

Ian Moss, a great guitarist and singer. Cold Chisel wouldnt be successful without him

Dave Grohl, what a talent to start out as a drummer for Nirvana and now singer/songwriter/guitarist for the Foo Fighters.

Eric Clapton, enough said
Ac/Dc, definately the Bon Scott era
The Cruel Sea, such an amazing band
Deep Purple
Rolling Stones
David Bowie

I have to say Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave and solo artist).

Amazing voice, wonderfully talented lyricist and not afraid to go in new musical directions. Oh, and nobody writes about rejection by women quite like him!!!
