Ugh, why would Penrith want to do that? Though I can understand Staines wanting to get more playing time elsewherealso rumoured that the Tigers and Panthers will be doing a player swap, Tyrone Peachey for Charlie Staines

The Seibold/Flanaghan/Dymock trio looks pretty good...whether or not it works at Manly I guess is up in the air.Flanagan has agreed to terms as Manly assistant, Jim Dymock rumoured to be the other
Maguire signs with the Raiders as their senior consultant
Think Staines will be shown to be bog average on the end of any other backlineUgh, why would Penrith want to do that? Though I can understand Staines wanting to get more playing time elsewhere
I wonder how many players are now getting MRIs? Should we be doing these before they start NRL and then yearly?Post mortem shows Paul Greens brain showing severe effects from concussions. Sad story
The good news is that players no longer stay on the field once they're concussed. In theory, that is.I wonder how many players are now getting MRIs? Should we be doing these before they start NRL and then yearly?
Sorry your brain is showing sign of damage you can no longer play!
Study below shows it isn't concussions but head trauma/injuries. So say goodbye to contact sport!
CTE from head injury not concussion
Do all with CTE suffer?
Would dementia have developed anyway? Had head injury brought it on sooner?
From the article I read, at this point in time it is impossible to detect while the person is aliveI wonder how many players are now getting MRIs? Should we be doing these before they start NRL and then yearly?

No disrespect but we're they the quickest before playing football?I work with a bunch of ex footy players and boxers. They’re definitely not the quickest between the ears and most of them admit it’s affected them
Yeah, they working on it while your alive. From the article I read, at this point in time it is impossible to detect while the person is alive
on a side note, the current 2NZ superstock driver and provincial rugby player Jason Long has today had to retire from both sports due to concussion issues
Haha they’re a mixed bunch. No disrespect but we're they the quickest before playing football?
I remember the second one, that was awful. Lonergan is lucky, still seems sharp and showing no effects. The two worst concussions I remenber seeing were both with the Kiwis.
1985 First Test, Lang Park. Noel 'Bushranger' Cleal puts a stiff arm on captain Mark Graham. A deliberate hit, taking out our leader and best player early. We lost 26-20 and that decided the series. Graham stayed on, of course!
1991 First Test Olympic Park, Melbourne. Dean Lonergan got sandwiched between two Kangaroo brutes (Siro and Roach?) and landed badly. He was out for the count and started to convulse. Awful viewing but he stayed on, and starred, in a famous win.
These days both players would've been off straight away.
I think he went from the field but returned, rather than simply getting up (eventually) and carrying on. Either way, he didn't 'take no further part in the game' as what would happen now.I remember the second one, that was awful. Lonergan is lucky, still seems sharp and showing no effects.
But he hurt his back!!!I remember the second one, that was awful. Lonergan is lucky, still seems sharp and showing no effects.
Read that for a chilling glimpse into CTE. Yet the NFL still has a situation like the Tua Tagovailoa one a month back. It's truly f**ked.
The Crusher was a hell of a player though, loved everything about him except that he played for those Manly f**kers...The two worst concussions I remember seeing were both with the Kiwis.

I'm in the minority but I hate boxing with a passion. UFC even more so. A sport where it is the explicit aim to cause a brain injury on someone, where it's celebrated in fact - the more dramatic, the better.I think he went from the field but returned, rather than simply getting up (eventually) and carrying on. Either way, he didn't 'take no further part in the game' as what would happen now.
Graham stayed on, groggy and wobbly as, and eventually went off. Even then, as a 15-year-old, I thought he shouldn't have continued. We basically played with 12 men whilst he tried to clear his head.
Luck comes into it. Boxing greats Sugar Ray Leonard and Thomas 'Hit Man' Hearns' famously crossed paths in the 1980s. Today, Ray sounds fine, whilst Tommy is buggered.
Ditto Tyson, good as gold. And he got badly hit in the end.
