Oh yeah for your information I know Paul I have dealings with him in the past as well as have friends who have played under him at Wests he may in time make a good coach but the way he deals with players at times is rather misguided he should never have been given the job.

The information I know direct from a former Cutters player is that he can coach, is passionate ,cares about the long term future of he club , hard but fair and is respected by other NRL players through his involvment with the NRL. Sure time will tell on his success but the decision has been made , it will not change so lets support him.I'm pretty sure that Mary knows more about the game and player management than 99% of the posters on here.

Merrin is far from soft. He's a very very good forward.

He does however, need to lift his game.

I do want him onboard, but he is not the player he was 2 years ago.

Bennet wants Merrin at the Broncos so he must have something going for him given that Bennett has let go some good props to make way for him. I believe Merrin would improve greatly under a coach like Bennett.

I want Merrin to stay but I have come to the conclusion that until Mary proves to be a good coach, some of our best players are likely to be restless and distracted - ready to jump ship at the first opportunity. I am afraid it will only be money that keeps them at the Club.

Merrin was in the gf 17 but he wouldn't have been if Hunt was fit. He played what, 10 minutes when the game was over, despite the fact Weyman went off injured early in that second half. Let's not point to being a part of a premiership winning side as a credential.

That said, we need to retain him at the right price.

I hear what others are saying about the positivity over the past few years. I am happy to stand by my comments, I haven't been that confident the last two seasons and have emphatically stated so.

But two things have changed. Firstly Price is gone. Should have been sacked season 1 after his pants pulled down comment, what an amateur. Secondly, the appointment of Peter Mullholland. Gives me great confidence we will get the right squad, maybe not in 2015 but we are heading in the right direction.

As for Mary, he does worry me. I am leaning towards cancer but I hope I am wrong and instead he is the kind of hard head this club needs to drag itself out of this mire.

He'd be behind rein, Le'strange and garvey. Where's he going to play?

I think he'd be forst choice utility, hes a fairly decent hooker but also has the ballplaying skills to fill in the halves and could probably slot into lock if needed. Handy triangle player.

Must be Dragons fringe forwards day out in the Gong today
The Butcher looks pretty fit, Wakeman likewise and believe it or not Hunt looked ok
See if they can deliver on the paddock as well.

And first thing Bemnett would do is move Merrin back to prop, in order to allow Corey Parker to move back into the back row or lock position.
Meanwhile we will persist with playing Merrin out of position at lock....

Next out the door looks like Dylan Farrell as reported by Buzz Slothfield in today's Tele. Heading north to the Cowboys for 2015 supposedly. Wonder if Beale will be next to follow as rumoured to the Sharks.

I reckon if Farrell goes, we may keep Beale.
Farrell frees up $300k for a 'Justin'.

Can't imagine our team spirit is at high level with all of these players being pushed out? Surely we need a settled roster to gel in the team and combinations? At this rate the guys will need name tags on game day next year???

If we can let Morris go, no one in our squad has immunity. Under Price we developed a squad of players who degraded the Red V’s famous spirit put in place by Bennett. Morris is one player that did not perform poorly over the past 3 years however, there are plenty in our squad who need a fresh start under a coach and team mates who have a different attitude to that of the squad of the Price era.

Beale and Farrell are two highly paid players who have not lived up to expectations. I'm not sure who would replace them however, I am sure Mary has a firm idea on what he thinks will work.

:lol::lol::lol:
How is it then, that the seemingly God's gift to coaching couldn't get the Cutters to the top 8 of a 13 team competition? Did he lose half his squad to an early outbreak of ebola? Haha frankly the ebola scenario sounds more likely than the fantasy tale you've described.

I think it would be a mistake to let both Farrell and Beale go. Leaves us too thin in experienced centres.
One for sure, and my preference would be Farrell.

I would rather keep Farrell than Beale i think he may have more upside to him.
