f**king depressing... I think I might just go home

Haha, it is like that ain't it mate.

Anyway the second half will be underway shortly and you know what that means? Wenty will be doing the opposite shit of what they did to start the game.

The half begins much like how it ended, with Newtown making 70m from the kickoff set. There is a fortunate break for Wenty on this occasion though as the Jets lose the ball near the end of their set.

Wenty scrum 30m out from their line.

Junior Paulo frees his arm for a good offload, giving Wenty some rare second phase ball. Parata bombs the Newtown line on the last but the ball easily outdistances his chasers and is taken easily by Wells. He is collected high a Wenty chaser for a penalty and more easy metres for the Jets.

There are some good charges from Mataele, Ma'afu and Vaeau before Wenty attack down the short side, looking for Junior Paulo. Newtown read the play well and commit three defenders to shutting the big man down.

Next play is the last and Parata shows some poise to roll the ball in towards the posts, catching an intentional deflection and forcing Newtown to kill the ball for a line drop out.

It is Ma'afu who proves to be the go-to man for Wenty as he breaks free from the attention of numerous Newtown defenders to offload to Dom Reardon on the goal line who dives over in the corner to get Wenty on the board.

The conversion is just missed by Fluke.

Wenty trail Newtown 4-40

Radradra field the kickoff and hurls himself at the chasers, seemingly making good metres before the ref allows the defenders to drive him back 10m without a held call.

Ma'afu gets a slick offload away midfield to give Wenty ruck control and McKinnon captitalises on it as he spots space behind the ruck. He chips in behind the line and regathers it after there is a kind bounce. Dean Parata looms large in support and he scores under the posts.

The conversion is taken easily.

Wenty trail Newtown 10-40.

Radradra fields a consecutive kickoff and gets the ball out to the 20m line. Wenty spread to their right, making solid metres before Vaeau gives away possession near halfway with a speculative offload.

There is a good tackle from MacKenzie (I think) who jolts the ball loose from Oldfield's grasp, earning possession back for Wenty.

Mullaney completes a strong set with a testing grubber down our left-edge. It is shepherded into touch, 10m from Newtown's line by Wells but Radradra was hot in pursuit.

Newtown scrum 10m from their line.

The Jets attack our right-edge and make a half break getting them over halfway but Wenty scramble well.

The ever-present Wells is in support for a midfield short ball but he is called back after it is ruled forwards.

Wenty scrum 20m out from their line.

Mullaney loses the ball after beating the initial contact and Wenty then give away a penalty...for what I am not sure given that the ref has allowed Newtown the drive our runners back all day.

Time is off as Mullaney is down again.

The Jets find touch near halfway to get things back underway.

Wells nearly scores again as he dances past some flat-footed defenders before some desperate cover defence pulls him up short by the barest of margins.

Newtown run it down our right-edge on the last but we mark up well and earn the turnover.

Wenty finally get a penalty for Newtown defenders infringing on the 10m and get piggybacked into Newtown's half.

Ken Edwards very nearly scores, running a good line from a Parata inside ball but he is tackled by some earnest cover defence.

Wenty lose the ball two plays later and Newtown start to grind their way down the middle of the field.

The Jets complete their set with an ordinary kick due to great kick pressure before Wenty earn another penalty, this time on the back of a strong charge from Radradra.

Six again for Wenty as Edwards's pass is knocked down.

The charges are starting to come from an invigorated Wenty side but they are wasting tackles on the goal line. The set fizzles out as there is a dummy half dart on the last, followed by a desperate offload that is knocked on.

Newtown make massive metres in their reply set, attacking down our left-edge. Radradra ropes in Wells in an important 1-on-1 tackle.

Maliota is on hand to take the Newtown stab kick on the last and makes 10m. He is followed by a strong charge from Mataele before Ken Edwards confuses himself with a half and puts in a terrible grubber just over halfway.

Newtown ball.

Newtown try a chip kick but Wenty clean it up.

McKinnon makes a nice break after due to good support play after second phase play from Lasalo and Maliota. He is pulled down 10m from the try line but on the next play Fluke goes to the short side and finds Parata who steps inside a scrambling defender to slam the ball down in the corner.

The conversion is nailed from the side line.

Wenty trail Newtown 16-40

There is a strong charge form Edwards to get us near halfway. Peni Terepo is back on and follows suit.

Newtown are starting to slip off tackles. Despite the advantage they are starting to drive home Wenty lose their way on the last tackle and after a number of passes, the ball ends up with Lasalo who tries to grubber the ball but it is cleaned up easily by Newtown.

Newtown then get a penalty for a strip but squander the boon by knocking on shortly after resuming play.

Wenty scrum near halfway.

Mataele comes across the field but is pulled down by good defence. Wenty then bomb towards our right-edge. The ball sails long and wide, where it is taken spectacularly by a flying Dylon Gilbert who crosses for his first of the day.

The conversion narrowly misses.

Wenty trail Newtown 20-40

Great run by Radrdara there as he takes 20m from some tiring defenders.

Wenty try their luck down the right-edge again, this time through the hands but the ball is spilled. The ref called for a Wenty scrum initially but changed the feed after advice from the touchie.

NEwtown scrum 30m out from their line.
