Lasalo is the right man again to force an error on defence.

Gorman is calling the shots now as he runs the play down the left edge, nearly putting Tangira through.

Sandow has the ball on the last and rolls a grubber in for himself to get a line drop out.

Faraimo makes a barnstorming run that brings play just shy of the tryline and Ben Jones tries to capitalise on the momentum as he darts from dummy half. He goes very close to scoring but as he freed his arm to plant the ball down he made contact with another defender that knocked the ball loose.

Wenty force another error in defence, this time Lasalo wasn't involved...however he is the primary figure in the next play as a bullocks his way to the posts and scores.

Sandow adds the extras from in front as Santi and Jones get a break.

Wenty lead Newtown 40-10

Paulo and Lasalo dominate this set with some great carries up the middle before a committed kick chase from Foran pins Newtown 2m out from their line.

Good set after points.

Faraimo cleans the ball up from the kick and has a think about taking on his opposite number down the sideline but errs correctly on the side of caution to take the tackle in field.

Foran puts Tangira into a yawning gap down the left, he looks for support but Newtown chasers get between his support and he is brought down.

The next play Rawalui goes to the short side and gives Faraimo the ball where it should be an easy try but an offside Newtown player tries to impede his run. Faraimo scores despite this.

Sandow is well off with this attempt and is quickly waved away.

Gower fires a gorgeous cut out ball to Faraimo to put him into half a gap. Faraimo keeps his head and tacks back in field before linking up with Foran and goes on a tilt to the try line. The defence closes in on him and he tries to kick to support but it deflects favourably for Newtown.

Paulo absolutely smashes #12 in defence though as Newtown turn the ball over again.

Lasalo comes off after a very good effort.

Wenty attack down the left edge and go very close to scoring but Tangira can't handle a scorching tap on and turns it over.

Newtown scrum 10m out from their line.

Faraimo has murdered one of the Newtown players. The Jets had the overlap but squandered it with some bad hands and Faraimo has come flying in to nail one of the halves.

Ualesi tries something creative from the scrum as he tries to sneak a grubber through but it is trapped and fielded by Goulding who's pass is in turn intercepted by Maa'afu.

Wenty nearly open Newtown ip the middle before Gorman spills a very difficult offload. The game heats up as Gorman takes exception to some attention he receives and the ref calls time off.

The blow up results in a penalty for Newtown, who find touch 30m out from their line.

Newtown makes some metres before spilling the ball yet again.

Last minute of play now.

Sandow puts up a speculative bomb in the dying seconds and it is left to bounce. Gallant fields it ingoals and beats the first chaser before going for a jaunt. He is roped in quickly though and lets himself get pushed into touch to finish the game.

Thanks for the updates Forty20.

So with Wenty smashing Newtown, the Roosters feeder club, you would have to think that either some of the Wenty guys should be in Firsts or if the Roosters get a couple of injuries they are stuffed.

Sounds like the boys actually put their hand up, i'm not sure how often that has happened in the past after the first grade team has been towelled up before they played? I would suggest not often........

Thanks for the updates :)

Paulo and Santi sound like they had big games.

Paulo and Lasalo were both excellent. With the impending suspension of Lussick, both would do better than Allgood and probably Moimoi at this point.

Santi was immense in the second half when most of the team were cruising. Bruising defence up the middle and some tidy runs.

Sandow was disappointing in the second half after a very good first half. Gorman ran the team in the second forty.

Joseph Ualesi was another to impress. Very well rounded game.

Good win for Wenty.
First half we played one of the best halves of footy I've see a Wenty nsw cup team play in some time.
Second half we took the foot off a bit which I thought was disappointing.

Some players that stood out for me were:

Sandow- his second half wasn't that good, but his first half he was everywhere and controlled the game really well. The second half he was still organising and talking well just ball in hand wasn't very good.

I thought Gower and Paulo were our best forwards, and ualesi and Santi were very safe.

Lasalo for mine is still a ? He has so much potential, but he doesn't seem to run as hard as he could, plays a bit lazy for mine.

Sio was strong, and took a couple of good high balls. But did lose the ball a couple of times with trying to do a quick play the ball.
Morgan was also strong, but he went off early in the second half and didn't come back on, not sure how serious it is...

I also thought forans service from dummy half was pretty good, his defence was quite sharp as well. Interesting what kept him out of first grade this week.

Morgan was walking around with ice on his right ankle after the game, Joely. He seemed alright, might be a light sprain or rolling of the ankle.
