Honestly mate, he's too runny and not kicky or passy enough for an NRL half.

Fullback's his position.

Don't agree, he's a busy player and loves being in the thick of the action, i.e. vs Manly at Brookvale last year.
Humble can tackle, can take heavy punishment, get back up and back into the grind without wimping, etc.

He just needs to play NRL for at least 10 weeks straight and he will perfect his unique mojo style of game.
As a utility last year he was shunted around from 1 to 6 or 7 and to 14, etc.

Yes he had a shocker at Mount Smart last year but so did almost the whole squad, they were dreadful in the wet.

Tommy, needs to develop his game at 6 but since Casey is a proven shinning light at 6 Tommy needs to get the opportunity to play consistently at either 7 (but Robbo played a blinder so Tommy won't get that job for a while now unless Robson plays 3 terrible games in a row & I doubt that) or 1 (and we all know that won't happen with Hayne there) or 14 (which is probably his best opportunity if Mortimer is not given this role or plays crap for a few games).

I don't think Tommy is suitable to play 3 or 4 or 5 - he's not tall and powerful enough and we already have a short but highly experienced winger in Burt playing on the other side of the field. To me, having two short wingers on either side of the field is a very big no no no no no.

For this year and bar serious injuries, Humbles only opportunity to play NRL week after week will be at 14.

If he was to show the control skills - kicking, passing, talking - to play in the halves there's no reason he couldn't oust Robson.

Jeff Robson is a dead man walking. He's off contract at the end of the year and we have other retention priorities (e.g. Humble).

Robson should come back to Earth against the Knights (and every other team), and if Humble does show the skills required for the halves and he plays some halfback in Wenty and plays well, then there's no reason he couldn't oust Robson.

But I don't think he's got what it takes to play halves in the modern game. Maybe back when halves played both sides of the field he could've gotten away with being a specialist 6 but there are very few specialist five-eighths left in the game and coaches are all trying to phase them out and go with two halfbacks.

I doubt Robson will flop against the Knights or the Dragons the following week. He might only create 1 x LBA and 1 x TA but that will be as bad as it will get.

I watched the game a 3rd time and concentrated on Casey and Robson and it's plainly obvious for all to see that SK gave Robson more freedom to play his own add-lib game, to take control when he feels it which he did many many times throughout the game. The shackles were removed and Robbo was not fixed into the same type of game plan we've had in place since round 1.

Robbo organised the forwards while Casey controlled the backs and he sent instructions to Robbo when required as well.

Casey made sure the back lines were set deep, etc, and Hayne was free to roam again. Burt was helping Casey organise the backs and this was supported by Hayne when he felt the need to interject. (All we need now is Reni M as a center on the other side of the ruck and the organisation of this team will be excellent all over the park. MK & AM just played what was before them but most of the time they fed Robbo or Casey or Hayne.)

Since probably the Penrith game at Penrith last year, this is the 1st game I have seen Hayne add-lib, do whatever he wanted to do in the moment whenever and however.

The "structure" played last night , its style was heading back towards the DA type of game-plan used against the Dragons in the first semi 2009.

If I am right we are going to see a gradual increase in add lib 2nd phase style football, maybe not as abundant when we had Mateo, Inu and Cayless on board but far more than what we saw during the 1st 10 rounds.

Control the ruck, have forwards and backs pushing the line back with each fast play-the-balls and then unleash the second phase play when the opportunity presents, starting probably from 60 meters out. Bar the Robson short kicks, cut out passes and Maguire's diagonal kick across the line for Burt, there was a lot of second phase plays going on.

This is a far more disciplined approach to second phase add-lib play than what we saw last year but hey, this type of game will defeat the Dragons in a fortnight.

Carl Webb & Reni M are the missing factors to us not only getting into the top 8 but getting this team to the GF. From around round 16, preferably earlier, they both need to be playing NRL every week to get their match fitness back, maintain intensity and focus while on the park.

If we are fortunate not to have major injuries to this squad we will do another 2009 roll into the semis.

I'm glad SK, Arthur's & co, realised that Robbo needs to be set free. Putting Casey at 6 opens up this tram to play fantastic attacking football. It seems Casey is the one who calls out when they can start playing second phase add-lib. He is now the general running this team.

Organizational Keys.

1. Hayne
2, Burt
3. Reni
6. Maguire
7. Robson

This is our spine for the rest of this season.

Hindmarsh just plays his game and be captain only when ref needs to talk to the captain or if something important needs to be said to the refs. Hindy was so relaxed last night. We can all thank Casey for this.

Against the Knights, Robson to play as good as he played last night and this squad minus Reni will go close to defeat the Dragons if not split them open all over the park and defeat then by 16+.

WE ARE BACK.

The game against the Sharks was not a fluke nor were they playing against Reggies, the Sharks played very well for most of the game. The Eels just did not let them control the game.

Casey wont have as much room to move against the Knights or Drags, that will be more of an indication of how good he can be at 5/8.

Considering he got 1 TA and 0 LBA in the 10 weeks prior to the Sharks game, it would be awesome if he could be that creative against the Knights and Dragons.

You watched the game and you reckon you saw this?!?!!?

Yep, but hey we interpret whatever we see and can superimpose our views over whatever is really going on and be right off the mark.
It's just my opinion after watching the game 3 times.

Agreed.

But he is very smart player and these next two games will tell us a lot about this new game plan and how it helps Casey use his brain in the moment while staying composed. Bar injury, I expect him to do very well against both teams.

To me, he is already the best buy of the season across all teams.

The key was the fast play the balls, getting plenty of repeat sets and a much better kicking game.
Hopefully the refs will not let either side slow down the rucks.

Also, Reni is a far better defender and reader of the game than Walker and if he does get back to playing near his best then we can shut down the Dragons, Storm, West-Tigers, etc, much better than what we have dished up for most of this season. Our differential should also improve dramatically.

I still don't feel comfortable with Atkins or Walker on the wing. Maybe Hicks is a better option if he gets fit and improves on what he dished up earlier in the season, particularly his speed. Otherwise 'i'm hoping for Filiga to stay injury free and make a claim for Atkins spot in a few weeks time. A fit Hicks brings another smart brain into our brains trust.

1. Hayne
2. Burt
3. Reni
5. Hicks
6. Maguire
7. Robson

So impressed with Loko, he is keeping his game very simple, primarily concentrating on reading the defence and running the ball out from our end of the field. His attack will come as everything else falls into place. He is so mature/level-headed for his age. He generally just keeps things calm and centered even when we score tries. WOW.....
