I don't really have an opinion on where we should be training out of but two points...I clearly remember Phil Gould saying that our location of our training base out of Wollongong would in the long run continue to cost us players wanting to sign with us because of the commute from Sydney to Wollongong would be a turn off to players who live in Sydney and obviously I don't know for sure but I bet money that this point would have been made by Gould in his review and also I remember at the time we were chasing Keary as a replacement for Widdop the word on the street was that we threw everything but the kitchen sink at him to get him to sign but one of the sticking points on his side was he didn't want to move to Wollongong and that he wanted to stay in Sydney... I'm not one of these people who was a Dragons supporter who know wants to break away from Illawarra but this problem of players who don't want to sign because of the daily commute to training is something maybe the club might have to look into and address or it could continue to cost us signing talent in the future...we don't need any more reasons for players not to sign at the moment the overall state of the club and the way it is run is a big enough turn off as it is....

This indeed could be a major factor for the current players living away from the Gong and for future players to consider. Longer than usual commutes tend to drain energy out of players and also the feeling of having to drive miles to get to training could be a turn off. What's happened to the bus that the Sydney based players were each one taking turns to drive down and back?

The Calm One is right with what he says in his post, so surely when a player is going to be signed up, this matter of location for training would be addressed and if the player does not agree, then see you later before he signs. If he does sign, then suck it up and do the right thing by the club.

Just like most negotiations in life I guess it all comes down to who's holding all the cards...when we are chasing players that have limited options as far as clubs go the commute to training would be irrelevant but if we as a club are looking to sign players that have multiple options like Keary had when we were chasing him all of a sudden the daily commute to training becomes a bigger issue... I'm sure if Saab had no other options as far as clubs go we wouldn't even be talking about this and he would be happy to do whatever was required to play first grade...

Wow, back in the day travelling to training would never make a person leave training. They would find a way to make it easier if anything. His Manager has definitely been tapped up by another club with a higher offer which he will get his cut. Sad.

Mary's love for Rava makes it even harder for Saints to keep this bloke. I would have still dropped Rava and I am sure we have another bloke called Tristian who can play on the wing.

Isn't Ramsey injured?

If Saab is still not motivated to stay we should let him go. Ramsey will be fit soon and is twice the player and better coordinated.

And there's the problem atm.
We need to fill 2 slots.
Ramsey is not in our squad at present.

Talk of us signing/chasing Wallace and Magoulias. If so then there isnt a spot for Ramsey unless we agree to release Saab (or someone else).

Well, Saab has been selected to play tonight so let's see how he goes and then make further comment on him after the game.

The club just need to let him go, he obviously doesn’t want to stay and with 3 requests you would think the pathways controller (Millward) would get the hint Jason is heading out the gate.

I think he’s about 4 weeks from being ready

Saab seems too high maintenance & immature ATM for team cohesion?

I just don’t get the long commute thing, I’ve worked all over Australia and overseas. He needs to grow up and be a man. It’s time to move out into the big bad world and move to the gong.
The Club could solve the problem by arranging for his family to live at the Gong.

Depends if the incoming personnel can get in his ear ;-)
What if it’s Dean Young & Flanno partnership, you would have thought they may have already had a quiet word (off the record)
I don’t know what to believe anymore, except the Peanut must go!

Why ?

will they do that for every player who signs on?

He signed an extension to stay at the Club. Let him go. If he wants to leave, then so be it.
We need good young wingers. Saab and Ramsey are the pick of our young wingers so why just put our head in the sand and release him. Why not try to accommodate him and family in Wollongong as a means of overcoming this problem.

Mate i know we need wingers/centers etc.. I get it.
Im just curious as to how we relocate "family members" to a place that suits them each time we need a player.

They know the lay of the land when they sign on.
He seems hellbent on leaving.

He may have potential, but if his heart isnt with the club , then we move on. Mary was coach when he signed last time. So for him it isn't the coach.

Im all for criticism of coach and board, but sometimes, a player wants out. Seems to be the case here.

Have you thought that maybe his family don’t want to live in the gong?? If there working in Sydney or have other family then would they want to move 80 odd k’s south?? I say fu*k the spoilt pri**, wasn’t an issue commuting earlier in his career when Saints offered him ( and his family ) some financial security with a long term deal. I’m sick of this rubbish especially from a nobody with 3 first grade games trying to hold a gun to the clubs head

Don't think it will be flanno...( only because he cannot start until 2022 ) if coach goes before the end of the year, if I was a betting man I'd say D.Young caretaker... Some reliable posters in J.A say deal is already done...that would be for next year. If we lose the next 3...then more pressure on the board to Act sooner.

So who’s the hot tip in J.A for Head Coach in 2021, surely not Dean Young?
