there is no varying levels of information, varying levels of misinformation comes from manufactured media stories

IF there was hard evidence into doping this would have been over ages ago

There was little to no evidence, we know this because the suspensions have been handed down on the provision that the players admitted guilt and for the fact that no one actually submitted a positive test to a banned substance

The flip side was to fight a lengthy court battle

They were backed into a corner

This was a manufactured result by ASADA knowing what the outcome would be so they could save face

everyone wants to move on, none moreso than ASADA as they f**ked up the whole investigation

they themselves have set back eradicating drugs in sport

absolute farce

your opinion on guilt I suggest is based purely on the fact they have admitted guilt and nothing else

Schlonger completely misses the point that the players didn't test positive to anything

Exactly this.
If players had tested positive they would have been wiped out straight up.
Allegations of drug use via investigations is always going to be a shit fight.

Why is there only a certain number of players and not the whole squad?

Did some players say no?

If so those players need to cop it sweet and thank their lucky stars they didn't cop more.

I think there is no doubt the players took banned substances.

so you research everything your doctor has ever prescribed to you after a visit?

what a crock, it's called putting faith in trusted and accredited professionals, these players, you & I, can barely pronounce some of the shit that is kicking around today. and if you get onto mr google to do research you need a degree in bio chemistry to make sense of what you are actually reading. why is that their responsibility?

that's why we have health care professionals

you theory lends it self to scrapping doctors completely and letting everyone come to their own conclusions via "research" and source shit directly from suppliers of the drug

it'd be out of f**king control

while youre at it, why don't you research your next elective surgery to make sure the surgeon is following best practice

Well why weren't all the players involved?

Or is it only the ones that agreed or are too stupid?

why would I know the answer to that question?

at a guess it all probably stopped when the actual club doctor got wind of what was going on so the program did not fully complete? meaning not all players were administered

No doubt? If there was no doubt this would all have been done and dusted well before now.

players are just following instructions, assumption would be if an individual is around the playing group then everyone knows what is happening, turns out the sharks doctor was sidelined on some of these decisions

I certainly don't hold the players accountable for that

ASADA obviously have no evidence or we wouldn't be here. As Cronulla don't have records and don't know what was administered and ASADA have produced jack am I supposed to believe the players know what they were being given and that it was a banned substance? I doubt that, which makes the whole deal in which they admit to taking banned substances a farce.

Joke of a penalty; 6 months when majority of that time is off season, they miss 3 dead rubbers, nothing penalty.

Considering there's absolutely no f**king evidence that the players have knowingly done anything wrong any penalty is too long. Add in the fact the turmoil this farce of an investigation has put the players through over an extended period of time...

I wonder how many of the sharks fans defending their players' ignorance feel he same way about Melbourne Storm players knowing nothing about salary cap cheating?

well let the players sue the club.............but they still get banned.

like i said in most countries they'd get at least a year maybe 2 year ban.....not a year back dated plus 6 week

In Australia they would if they were anything but NRL/afl players. Plenty of RL players from lower levels have receive 1 & 2 year bans in recent times. Asada has just made a mockery of the whole doping punishment system in this country, probably due to their own poor performance.

I was wondering when these guys were going to hit out.

The deal's a joke and I hope WADA appeal. The NRL's always been soft on drugs.

Australian Olympic athletes hit out at ASADA’s ‘ludicrous’ backdated bans for NRL players

AUSTRALIAN Olympic athletes reacted with shock at the “ludicrous’’ reduced suspensions handed out by ASADA to Cronulla NRL players for admitting to doping.

Frustrated at the leniency of the backdated one-year bans that have effectively given players a three-week suspension from competition, some of Australia’s leading Olympic athletes took to social media to vent their feelings.

The resentment had been brewing for days, for some even months, as news began filtering out that the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority would offer reduced bans for athletes if they admitted to the 2011 peptides program at Cronulla.

“A backdated 12 month ban for taking a banned substance?! Players to miss only a few games?! I feel sad for sport today.” tweeted leading swimmer Melanie Schlanger.

Exasperated Brisbane long jumper Mitchell Watt compared it to the stringent whereabouts clause that has cost members of his own athletics team lengthy suspensions in recent times.

“Take prohibited drugs, get a 10-week ban. Accidentally give ASADA the wrong address of your house, get a two-year ban. Truly ludicrous,’’ Watt wrote.

Watt was referring to the World Anti-Doping Agency rules regarded advised whereabouts, where any athlete who cannot be found by drug testers three times over an 18-month period can be suspended for two years.

“We are required to be available for testing one hour every day, 365 days per year,’’ Watt claimed.

“You might be at the shops, at a friend’s house, literally anywhere, and not update your address for that hour (and it can result in accusations of a) missed drug test.’’

Olympic kayaker Jo Brigden-Jones tweeted that the bans were “double standards for high profile players’’ and urged ASADA to “set the right precedent’’.

Has anyone here actually seen what the players specifically were suspended for?

Anyone?

Thought not. Now go back to your assumptions, your guesses, your rumours and whatever else you believe.

And you know this for fact? If there was no evidence I can assure you there would be no show causes issued. Players don't have to knowingly take something, it is very clear the onus is on them to know what they are taking. My sense is there was evidence but asada screwed up, or where after bigger fish, and the delay in charging the players means they are open to being contested so took the soft option of making the punishment so pss weak that players would accept it.

As for they didn't know, that is simply not an excuse. You keep asking would I ask what my Dr was giving me, if my entire career was reliant on it you bet I would.
