Laurie's "gidley" will be Pearce. In terms of a player being automatically picked regardless of form or previous origin form. For me Pearce gets a go on form this year but he has never stood up in origin. If he fails this year to stand out and we are 2-0 going into game 3 I think it's time for Reynolds to be given a go.
Id go with a side like
1. Stewart
2. Morris (only just hasn't been great this year)
3. Morris (purely for his defence)
4. Jennings
5. Hayne
6. Maloney
7. Pearce
8. Grant
9. Farah
10. Tamou
11. Bird
12. Lewis
13. Gallen (if fit)
14. Watmough
15. Mannah
16. Woods
17. Sims/Merrin
Sims should get his go although merrin has impressed as a backrower this year
Grant, Tamou, Woods and Mannah should be our front row rotation and is looking to be our front rowers for the future.
Previous years when mannah was picked he got limited time but still went very well. For some reason Stuart left him out in the cold but now has nothing but praise for him as his full time coach. In a side going poorly he has really stood up and showed he is going to be a great leader and surely has his hand up for origin again.
Tamou is a no brainer as is grant. But with woods he like mannah has impressed in a poor side.
People calling for Merritt to be in the team. I don't think he should be picked. He's great for Souths sure but I don't see him as an origin player.
Uate could get a go ahead of Brett Morris though. Hayne will play purely off previous origin form and with Jennings inside him they make a pretty good pairing.
I've picked Maloney as I think he deserves a shot ahead of Carney. He and Pearce (certainty to be half) have shown a better combination early on than Pearce and carney had at roosters or in origin. But like I said for me this would be Pearces last chance. Also it's probably the first time he's been picked based on good form.
Backrow is a no brainer. Gallen will be here if fit. And Lewis, Bird and Watmough are there purely on origin experience and the way the perform in a blues jersey. Merrin deserves a go but if he isn't picked I'd like young Tariq to get a go. But one things for sure Daley can't be stupid enough to pick Creagh surely?
