A lot will depend on the injuries to Stewart & Morris-could be a completely different backline come game 1 but it sounds like neither injuries are serious (at this stage, I think B Moz is having scans today). Otherwise NSW will sure miss Stewart meandering back to take bombs and walking up to the defensive line in his usual way.

We got dis

There are two starting props and Gallen as the middle back rower. Where's Merrin going to play in the run-on? He has to be on the edge and he doesn't play on the edge.

That squad will only work if Lewis starts as the right forward, Merrin goes to the bench and he becomes the 4th prop in the rotation. Remember though, he hasn't played as a prop all year. Last place I'd want to test out whether he's up for the prop role at the moment is in Origin.

Revised team:

1. Michael Gordon - All-rounder who can kick goals, finish tries and has good positioning. Dynamic with ball in hand, he offers more than Steward.
2. Jarryd Hayne - Always one of NSW's best.
3. Michael Jennings - Great form now and always steps up.
4. Josh Morris - Earns his spot from last year.
5. Brett Morris - Continuity, plus he's a better defender than Uate and is a good finisher.

6. Todd Carney - I really don't want to run with James Maloney, and debut another half who is nothing special. Maloney doesn't excel in any area, and he's not a great playmaker. He's very solid but I wouldn't want him.
7. Mitchell Pearce - I'm not his biggest fan, but he'll play. Would rather have Reynolds for his organisation and kicking game which can benefit the team. However, Pearce is better this year so I'm hoping for better play.

8. Aaron Woods - Makes metres, tackles, gets through work. Can be a great starter at Origin.
9. Robbie Farah - Playmaker and tough defender.
10. Trent Merrin - Playing great right now, can slide over to prop as he's one of NSW's best.
11. Luke Lewis - Versatile game will prove to be a great asset.
12. Greg Bird - Same as Lewis.
13. Paul Gallen - Obvious choice.

14. James Tamou - He's done nothing to go to the bench, but I think at Origin he'll be much better there. Would love to see him come on around the 20 minute mark.
15. Andrew Fifita - A monster. Like Tamou, can wreck havok on Queensland off the bench.
16. Anthony Watmough - Always great in Origin, his impact off the bench every year is large.
17. Tariq Sims - Don't care he hasn't played much, I love how he plays. Could be a wildcard in this series.

Good side.

However I reckon we'll have Stewart at fullback, Uate on one wing (instead of Morris), and Mason as the mandatory WTF selection on the bench instead of Sims. Mannah will probably get in there too because he's played in a losing side before and he has the "experience" that Lozza craves.

Rather have Grant and Mason instead of Woods and Merin and would also start james tamou. You have 2 back rowers on the bench, Lewis, Bird and Gallen are all 80 minute players, which 2 would you take off for the interchange? and yeah i don't like pearce, but he'll be there anyway.

I'm disappointed that John Morris isn't getting any of the respect he deserves. I'd pick him ahead of most of the people being listed in this thread. Might have to have a quick word to my mate Laurie to ensure NSW can reign supreme once more.

Are you seriously thinking Grant/Mason would be better than Woods/Merrin?

We need to attack these QLD merkins with a massive forward pack,
fast backs, and size size size. Hayne off the bence at the
65 minute mark will cut them to pieces.

Gee, I wonder where QLD would score ALL their tries :sarcasm:

My head says on form; Maloney- Sutton- A Reynolds-Pearce- Carney... I think they will stick with Pearce- Carney, if so Sutton must be on the bench..

the jizzfest for Sutton is incredible.

Sad thing is, I can see Fulton and Daley selecting him, totally ignoring the fact that his performances are created by the platform a pack of effective monster forwards at his club, and the biggest threat in rugby league alongside him, provide him.

ask him to do it on his own, sutton is a spud. i can admit that as a souths supporter. he and reynolds are looking great thanks to the support cast doing the hard work. reynolds is purely a game manager at the moment, sutton capitilises on the back pedalling and confused defence (forwards creating plenty of momentum and the defence in two minds about Inglis).

both are big selection errors at this level.

it seems as though we have a state of bozos, not just at the selection table.
