Origin

That's like saying Crusaders v Reds was more important than ABs v Wallabies last year because the former was tough to pick whereas everyone knows we consistently dominate the Wallabies. I don't think there's any logical reason why SOO is bigger than international league. Of course I can point to the historical reasons, but as of right now it doesn't make sense however you spin it.

Exactly right. I'm from NSW. A bloke from my street played for NSW. I went to a number of Origin games in Sydney in the 80's. I loved it then.

But now, tests are the 'pinnacle'. I get so sick of players saying origin is. Its the pinnacle of hype. But I would be very comfortable in saying that the Kiwis would flog NSW and beat queensland. Queensland had 11 players in the test team and they only just beat the Kiwis last time around.

So if the Kiwis are better than NSW, then surely, a Queenslander, playing for Australia against the kiwis is playing a harder game, therefore making it the pinnacle...

James Tamou on the news a day or so ago, saying being picked for NSW made his decision to play for Australia worthwhile......faaaaarkkkkkkkkk I nearly threw my beer at the tv!

Bring on NZ/Aus 3 Test match series. Might happen after QLD win there 15th series in a row.

Yes please. Origin is poo.

I think whoever wins the Origin this year should keep the shield and then end the sham of Rugby League.

Pinnacle of Rugby League and Origin should never be in the same sentence again.

Problem is (and I can say this having just got back from Sydney for a few days) Australians are way too 'american'. Americans have the World Series & 'world champion chicago bulls' (1993). Australians have the sense not to call SOO a 'world series' but they act like is. They also like playing obscure sports that noone else on the planet seems to enjoy playing (AFL & NFL)

And the funny thing is that Australians on here give AFL shit about being an Australian sport exclusively and having no international competition, and then they proceed to rubbish internationals and only care about SOO:lol:

Like others on here, I became a Qld supporter when Lowie was appointed as their coach, 20 odd years ago, and have supported them every since.

I hate Origin! It sucks balls. Im in the same thinking as Eddie in that how can Kiwis support a team(s) that try and snatch Kiwi players to play in these teams and make them Kangaroos instead of Kiwis. How can you support such wanks like Sticky & Mal and their teams?

What makes me laugh is at Origin time and you see all these guys decked out Maroon & Blue around town in NZ and all these Facebook messages and half these guys have never been to these places, even on holiday.

The only result I hope for is another beatup on NSW which goes to prove how crap Origin is, and the decline in quality. Surely people will wake up and see soon that this whole pinnacle of the game and origin players are born not made hype bs is exposed as just that overhyped bs! I mean Jamie Buhrer & Ben Creagh.....im not even sure Tamou would make a run-on kiwi side or would he, just because he's an orogin player, pleeease.

And people hate Slater, Smith, Hodges etc etc and then just because they pull on a jersey repersenting a state of Australia suddenly you're supporting them. And like you said pople are supporting teams who are very much actively now trying to steal our best young Kiwi players, and I see they are talking about upping SOO payments towards 50 grand a game, yet another massive incentive to take Kiwis aways from playing for the Kiwis. But yay go the Blues!

Who thought people could be "passionate" kiwis and passionate about their national side yet support a game that is trying to weaken the Kiwis and continue to hold the international game at second fiddle.

sounds too political... I dont think SOO is trying to weaken the Kiwi`s... its an aussie dominated sport... once league becomes #1 here and everyone realises how bad rugby really is to watch... then maybe things will change.... SOO will rule over any internationl game given the international scene invovles only 3 countries.... and most of the time the scorelines are never close.... case in point the recent tri-series...

You hate the decision Tamou made but support the whole concept that is trying to get more Kiwis to make the same decision?

Tonie Carroll, Karmichael Hunt, Brad Thorn. Can you imagaine how much better the Kiwis would have been and how much worse QLD would have been had they played for NZ rather than QLD. Carroll & Thorn have both come out saying they played for AUS because they wanted to play Origin, Hunt insinuates the same. It isnt getting any better either. Mal & STicky are still going after and in some cases have got Papili, Taumalolo, Tamou, Norman etc so SOO is and has weakened the Kiwis.

SOO Origin involves 2 teams....

I grew up supporting the concept of Origin as an All-star game. Now I'd like it to evolve to allow eligible Kiwis and Islanders entry without sacrificing their national team. So right now, I am at odds with the concept. But will still cheer for the Blues. Sort of like an entertaining evil? Like having a hot girlfriend who spends all your money? Annoying, but with enough redeeming features to keep around.

Another 5 QLD wins should put an end to the "pinnacle of league" that origin is viewed as anyway. I prefer test matches.

Wll the easiest way to have an 'all star' game with the best players in the world involved is to have a 3 Test NZ/Aus series instead! Best players in the world, competive, 'passion', more history than state of choice, appeals to a wider audiance, we'll have games in NZ. So much better.
