Rather than see Kiwis playing SOO or this Auckland vs the rest rubbish. I would love to see a Maori & Pakeha Kiwi team vs PI Kiwis team. or at worse a NZ Schooled Kiwis vs an Australian Schooled Kiwis team (team selection based on the whereabouts of your first day attendance of secondary school being NZ or AUS)

I have a problem with Kiwis supporting an event (and some Kiwis support it more than actual Test matches) that puts the international game in second place, you know the same international game where our country plays, an event that is now actively and openly trying to recruit some of best young players and make them ineligable for the Kiwis. And finally an events that is sickingly overhyped. And yeah I still don't understand why people choose to support an Australian rep side they have little to no affinty with. Do these same people if they are Cricket fans get behind the NSW cricket side when they play QLD? Haha.

There you go.

Yeah can't say I'm to into the forced concept they're trying to bring along atm, ideally it would be a Aus/NZ 2 Test macth series where SOO would be a one of game on the weekend where the ANZAC Test and City/Country was and on the same weekend we could hold a trial or training camp of sorts.

You would have enjoyed the NZ Maori vs Residents last season then? What an amazing game. Manu Mau was off the chain.

Man, f**k this.

If I was given the choice between SOO and a Kiwis vs Aussie Test. I'd choose SOO every time.

Where is this rant when the kiwis get the likes of Webb, Fien playing for them simply because they know they won't be good enough to make the Origin side ?
The NZRL are openly tyring to persuade guys to play for NZ that have more affinity with where they have grown up in Australia than they do with NZ as well, it goes both ways. If they don't want to play for us, so be it

Once again, the NRL sides are representing an area as well, would be plenty of people in NZ that support the side that represents Melbourne in the NRL despite having never been near Melbourne, who cares

Most people just like the game of rugby league, and will watch a game of this calibre when it is played, without trying to dig too deep into this other crap

If I had the choice neither Fien or Webb would have played for NZ. Does that mean that Australians trying to convince Josh Papali or Jason Taumalolo of over a year (despite them telling them they didn't want to) to play for SOO and hence Australia is alright though? I wouldn't think so.

I watch the game, still it doesn't take much though to see that it negatively affects the International game and anyone with a brain can see it. Doesn't take much digging. I guess it's because I care about the Kiwis more than I care about two Australian state sides.

This has to be the dumbest thread I have read in a long time..... get off your high horse and just enjoy the game...

I think you would find most Kiwis who watch origin actually prefer tests and support the Kiwis over Australian state sides... and the negative impact origin has is also widely known.

That was in reponse to Bevaers Headgear saying you have to dig in deep to find the negatives I was talking about.

When it comes down to I agree with Benji Marshall, "Origin is just shit."

Fair call. While I enjoy the games, I would certainly laugh if Origin died.
Mainly because it'd stop the f**kin poaching. Which is only going to get worse now with the extreme number of Kiwi and PI juniors playing in the U20s teams...

And you see they've set up under 20's origin now?

Each to their own mate, personally I find the under 20s shit and would love to see that replaced with reserve grade

The more league the better for me. It is in the kiwis hands to try and raise the importance of the international game with more consistent efforts, the 2 tournament wins are a great start, but it also kinda hides the fact that those are the only 2 wins we have v Australia since 2005

Next year could be an interesting year for the kiwis, if SBW returns to league and straight back into the kiwis it may draw a lot of people in but will also turn a lot of people off

I'd actually prefer to watch Origin over Tests. Dead-set. International league does very little for me - what is there ever on an Anzac Test? There's no series, no trophy of any importance (if there even is one) and we never win it.

Origin has a real sense of anticipation, hype in the media, genuine hatred, etc. It's magic theatre. Tests are not. Four Nations, I can kind of dig and World Cup obviously, but Origin shits on it and I've never been to Sydney/spent about 3-4 days in Brisbane.

NZers always whinge about losing players to Australia/Origin but never do anything about it. Ie set up our own version. Owen Glenn is on board now, he has cash to throw around/sponsors that would follow him etc - why can't we bankroll a North v South over here?
